Hello, I am seeking answers with my herpes 1 or 2 infection. Symptoms, extreme fatigue, malaise, sore throat, pain in throat. I have had herpes 1 most of my life. 4 or 5 weeks ago I think I got exposed to someone sexually with HSV2. I had an HSV1 outbreak on my lips April 25. On April 26, I woke up with one herpes sore on my tongue. Over two weeks spread on my tongue, throat and then my vagina never had been there before. I have been taking antivirals Valtrex first, then acyclovir, now I am taking Famcilvir 250 mg x2.  Test results are blood Herpes Simplex V I IGg AB 3.1 positive. Herpes Simplex V II IGg 8.0 positive. HSV type 1/2 Igm antibodies <.90. The HSV 2 positive is new, I never had that before. I always had HSV 1. Swab Real time PCR taken from vagina was negative for HSV 1 and 2 on May 3, but not tested in my mouth and the vagina infection was not present when the swab was taken. I believe I have HSV 2 infection in my mouth throat and vagina. This has spread under my mouth, throat and now vagina since April 25 to May 10th. I need the DNA PCR HSV 1 and 2 test on my mouth and throat. I cannot eat very well. I lost 13 lbs in one week. Like I said HSV 2 is new in the last three weeks. Please advise if you know herpes viral expert doctor or nurse that can treat me immediately. I have several children family living with me. What is the best drug to treat HSV 2 infection in tongue, throat, possible cheek and gums. Would an IV of acyclovir work? Other drugs by IV I saw? Please this condition getting worse every day. Mild anemia hemoglobin 10.5.

Someone with an index value of 8.0 for HSV 2 would likely not represent a new infection.  When did you take the antibody test in relationship to the contact with someone who had HSV 2?  So this person told you they were HSV 2? What kind of sexual contact did you have with them?  Unprotected intercourse, oral sex as the giver? The only way to know if your infection with HSV 2 is oral in addition to genital is to have swab testing done of oral lesions.  Just so you know, herpes doesn't spread from the mouth to the vagina, it would need to get to the vagina by exposure in the vagina.

If you are having all these oral lesions,please go right in and have them swab tested right away to confirm if they are herpes or not.

The antibody test was taken about two weeks after I had contact with the sexual partner. I do not know if the sexual partner has HSV2. I went to get my DNA swab today for my mouth. I should get results Tuesday or W for Sureswab HSV type 1/2. Is this the most accurate test? I am certain the test will show I have HSV2 in my mouth and throat. The one on my vagina is HSV1. One week before I had brief sexual contact with a man. It was a hand job only but I put some of the semen in my mouth. My other sexual partner was last year. I may have been exposed previously with him due to oral sex. I did have unprotected sex with him. The symptoms I am having sores on under and on my tongue and possible throat. Sore throat. extreme Fatigue malaise. More sores come every day. One swab of my mouth showed I had slight gram negative for capocytophaga in a culture from my mouth. Doctor told me this might be normal mouth flora. Can I come see you or one of your practicioners? What is the best anti-viral treatment? I also have acyclovir 800 mg x 5. I have not taken this because it is so much medicine. I have so many people dependent on me, including my children I need to get better. I am not able to eat very well. I know you cant make recommendations but I will come to you. I need help so badly.  To my knowledge I never had HSV2, but its possible I was not tested. I did not have sores on my vagina until one week ago. Vagina That has been tested it shows HSV 1/2 AB(igm) HSV 1 IGM screen positive, HSV 2 IGM negative. If you can see me, can I make an appointment with you? I need effective treatment. None of the antiviral I have taken have worked. I will try to send you an image of my tongue. Also, oddly around April 24th, I had HSV1 outbreak on my lips. Then it spread to my vagina in the shower.  Other lab result Herpes Simplex v I IgG 3.1 positive. This HSV 1 I had all my life. I get this on my lips time to time. The Valtrex is the most effective. I believe the case is getting more severe every day, which iswhy I am wondering I can get an IV of acyclovir, or better treatment. I take lunesta 3 mg. I also tried lemon balm tea. Salt. Made it worse. Maybe it is HSV1? It is getting worse every day and I cannot taste or smell my food.  I have continued acyclovir mouthwash and have tried sitavig. All to no better treatment. Lemon balm. I am sending three images. Observe five sores on the lining of my tongue and there are about 4 or 5 under tongue on bottom.

The results of your HSV-2 IgG indicate that you have had HSV to for significantly longer than two weeks.  It is possible to have them both HSV one and HSV-2 in the genital area. If I am understanding you correctly you have had a swab test from the genital area that is positive for HSV one. The sure swab test is fine. I will be interested to know the results. I think it is likely that the antiviral therapy is not working because the sores in your mouth may not be caused by herpes.  The swab test Will give us more information about this question. If you cannot taste or smell food, I think it is essential that you received an accurate diagnosis as herpes seems unlikely to me here. We do not have the ability to view pictures on this forum. Does the doctor that swabbed your sores Believe that they are caused by herpes? Do you know if they swab tested you for anything else, any other viruses?

I do not have the ability to see you as a patient but if you tell me the city in which you live I may be able to help you with a referral.

I think it is likely that you have never been tested for HSV-2 before this but you could certainly check your medical records.

I was never tested for HSV2 because I never had it before. I am in West Palm Beach, Florida. At this point I am willing to travel anywhere. Also I don't know if you saw my comment gram negative stain for anerobic bacteria showed scant growth of capnocytophaga species.

About 80% of people infected with HSV 2 say they have never had it before so your perception of having it or not having it has little to do with anything.  I'm sorry, I don't know anyone who is a herpes expert in your area.  I did see that comment but I don't know anything about that species but if your doc says it is normal flora,it probably is.  Did you see my mention of coxsackievirus?
