[Question #2112] Herpes 1 AND 2 Outbreak and infection in mouth, throat tongue, vagina

Please send me any information about a herpes expert that I can talk to or see, I will go to them anywhere. I need immediate treatment for what appears to be HSV2 infection in my mouth, throat, under my tongue and vagina. Should I continue taking famciclovir 250 mg 2x per day? It is not responding to treatment not resolving and getting worse for two weeks. Would an IV acyclovir work? I saw two other antiviral IVs.

You need to be swab tested first to determine if this is herpes - the fact that it isn't responding to treatment suggests it may be something else entirely. Please see my other response to you

Also, further lab result. Culture done underneath tongue. anerobic bacteria with gram stain. Moderate gram positive cocci, few epithelial cells. Scant growth of capnocytophaga species. Doc Said this might be normal mouth flora. Culture throat negative. Said something about gram stain negative. There are sores on the roof of my mouth, and tongue. all of the past two weeks.

Again, this does not sound herpetic to me, especially since you have a well-established history of HSV one infection orally. The likelihood that you would start giving mouth sores now from HSV one when you have not had them previously seems very low. There is something called Coxsackieviruses that can cause the symptoms that you describe - it is not part of the herpes virus family. Please ask your doctor if they think your symptoms could be caused by this virus.

Yes I saw your comment about the Coxsackieviruses. Can I email you pictures? I have pictures of it. Perhaps I got infected last year in my tongue and the virus was dormant until two weeks ago. Assuming it is HSV2 or HSV1 in mouth and throat and under tongue, do you have any idea of when it will resolve? It has not been resolving for since April 26. More sores every day. I have never had this. and was not exposed to any other virus or bacteria. I am willing to fly to a clinic that would have an expert to help me as I do not have any answers from doctors nearby. I should get my answer Tuesday, but as the length of time as passed, sores in my mouth don't go away.

No, we do not accept pictures on this website.
I cannot assume that the sores in your mouth are herpes but if they are, with your prior HSV 1 and HSV 2 infection, it should have taken about a week to resolve if it was herpes. Flying somewhere is not going to help you any more than attending to this locally
