[Question #2158] HSV1 transmitted to eye

Hi.  I had a genital HSV1 OB last week.  Is there any chance I could have given HSV1 to my child's eye by the virus being on my hand and then touch my son?  He seems to have a case of pink eye but I'm paranoid that it is ocular HSV1.  I should add that a few days prior to his eyes getting red and watery, the opthomologist diagnosed me with a fairly bad bacterial infection in my eye.  It seems to have healed.

Thanks

No, I do not believe that you gave your child herpes in the eye from your genital infection.  Herpes is just not transmitted in this way If you had a bacterial infection of the eye, perhaps he has what you had?  Has your pediatrician seen your child for the pink eye?  What did they say?
