Is it possible to have a pimple form ON your lip? Not on the lipline but on the actual lip? I experienced this a couple times and dont know if this means if it was a cold sore or not.

Also,is it ever worth it to get tested for oral HSV-1? No one, not even doctors, seem to be concerned about it

It's really difficult to say if this "pimple" might be just a pimple of a herpes outbreak.  Herpes lesions are generally water blistery, vs. the pus you might find in a pimple.  The only way to know for certain is to have it swab tested right when it appears.  If you really want to know if it is herpes, you could also do an antibody test.  But if you do an antibody test and it is positive for HSV 1, it would not tell you if the infection was oral or genital, though with those pimples, it could well be HSV 1 orally.  More than half the UW population between 14 and 49 are infected with HSV 1 so it is quite common.  Please let me know what other questions you might have about this.

I just wanted to clarify. I read somewhere that pimples technically cannot form on your lip because there aren't any hair follicles there to be clogged. Is this true?

Also, is UW University of Washington?

Yes, sorry,UW is University of Washington.  Pimples are not only caused by hair follicles being clogged - you might be thinking of folliculitis?  I think I can honestly say that I have never seen an actual pimple ON a lip - I would say that is likely very unusual.

Hm, I dont think it was like a cold sore but I dont know. Doesit follow logically that the incidence was due to a cold sore if it wqsnt a pimple?

I would say if I had to place a bet on this question, I would lean towards a cold sore vs. a pimple, but the swab test will be the defining test, should one arrive again.  And you should do it as early as possible in the "outbreak".  The other thing is, a cold sore would usually last 3-10 days, a pimple might go away a lot quicker.
