Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  Nearly all hepatitis C is transmitted through injection of infected material.  A VERY small proportion of infections are also transmitted sexually, nearly always through receptive rectal intercourse.   Informational web sites will tell you that this infection can be THEORETICALLY acquired through oral sex but there are no recorded cases in which this has been proven.  I would not worry at all about acquiring this infection from receipt of oral sex, no matter who the partner is.  EWH

Ok Doctor my question is regarding "Hiv Rapid Blood Tests" ! Im from mexico so 4 months after my last exposure,  I went down to the hiv clinic here in mexico, they told me about the window period of 3 months and they prick my finger and it was negative, so then I did my self 2 more at home also negative, then 2 more from a diferent brand also negative then at 5 months I went to the hospital and ask them to perform another one also negative, then at home from a diferent brand 4 more also negative and at the 6 months mark 1 more also negative so I have 11 negatives rapid blood test. My questios 1-The brands neogen whole blood (Medlab-mexico) Advance quality (INTEC Labs-Hong Kong) SD BIOLINE (Standard Diagnostics-Korea) 2 I have it in my mind that if I take a plane to the states and go to cvs and buy an hiv test is gonna be positive just because is FDA aproved, but my logic tells me that all this other tests I took are ISO,WHO,CE,USAIDS,UNICEF aproved and they could not be false. 3-Acording to the WHO guidlines if a rapid test is negative and perform a second one from a diferent kind also negative then the patient is negative is this correct. 4- Have you perform this types of tests on your patients, because my worry is that if I take an Elisa test my results will change ? 5-This tests rarely give false positives, but almost never false negatives is this correct ? 6-The tests that were perform at the health care centers here in mexico, they have to be good tests because I finded hard to believe that all of the Health Care in mexico are laying to people about their hiv status, rigth ? 7-I read that some of this brands, they buy the membrane where the sample and the buffer is apply and put it on their test kit, and sell them with another name, for example  Alere group sells the membrane to a company in mexico and then they sell it under a diferent name ? My exposures were 14 diferent woman over a 3 year period all gave me oral sex unprotected(blow job) and vaginal sex with condom. I also tested for siphylis and it was negative, o and regarding Hepatatis C do you think I could be infected ? Am I HIV Negative Conclusive ?

Your question is repetitive and my response will be no different from the answers that Dr. Handsfield has already give.  Your risk of acquiring HIV from receipt of oral sex is virtually zero if any of the persons you have received oral sex from even had HIV.  neither Dr. handsfield nor I have ever seen or heard of a person who acquired HIV from receipt of oral sex.   Further, in your case, the tests you were tested with, as WHO approved tests are equal in performance characteristics to those manufactured and approved for use in the U.S.  Your results are correct, reliable, definitive, and will not change.  thus, brief response to your questions are:

1.  The tests you were tested with are reliable.
2.  Coming to the U.S. for testing is a waste of time and money.  your results are definitive.
3.  Correct. The testing you have had however far exceeds this. There is no need for further testing.
4.  IO have used these tests in patients. They are reliable and the results will not change.
5. Correct
6.  Correct
7.  Correct
8.  Your results are conclusive.  Believe them!

Please note that the forum does not permit repeated anxiety driven questions by the same users. This will have to be your last one; future new questions on this topic will be deleted without reply and without refund of your posting fee. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers; because experience shows that continued answers tends to simply prolong such anxieties, when the real answer normally should be professional counseling; and because such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. I trust you will understand.  EWH
