[Question #2243] Hsv1 genital

Dear,

I've hsv1 genital since more the  2 years.Only had my initial ob and after that no more. Still very anxious to infect my boyfriend/baby. Every day i'm terrified it will come back :(.

Couple of questions, hope you can help.

  • what if have cuts/wound on my finger en touch the genitals-(fluids). Can i get herpes on my fingers then (last morning i cut myself by accident and later touched the genitals).
  • The initial ob was inside my labia. I have very often (what i think it is) a razor rash on my public area/mons pubis. Suddenly i freaked out maybe it is herpes all the time? How do i know it is? Is it likely it will show up there instead of my labia? (It doesn't look like lesions but more red cuts/bumps)
  • If i ever get another ob, on how many degrees i need to wash my underwear?
  • Can i use a hot tub/ small pool without chlorine during an ob?
  • If i have an ob how do you take care of not spreading it all over your genitals? For example on holiday during a beach dat.. i can't cover it with cream then all day?
  • Is it dangerous to touch lesions if they come back?

Hope you can relax my mind a little bit witb the answers! Thanks so much.

HSV one genitally recurs infrequently as you are experiencing if you had not had a recurrence within the first year after infection, there is an 88% chance you will not experience another recurrence.
Since you have had herpes for two years, it is very unlikely that you would get the infection a new place on your body.
A razor rash and herpes outbreak do not look alike. When you look at the rash, is it primarily on hair follicles?
Normal laundry temperature with detergent is more than adequate to kill the herpes virus. You do not need to do anything special about laundry.
Yes, you can be in a hot tub or small pool during an outbreak because the dilution factor of the water makes it extremely unlikely anyone else would become infected
Once you are infected in the area of the sacral ganglia, outbreaks in any location in the genital area are possible. If you have an outbreak is someplace other than the primary location, it is not due to you spreading it, it has simply traveled along a different nerve to get to the surface of the skin. I do not understand your question about a beach date.
It is not dangerous to touch the lesions if they do come back. Simply wash your hands in a normal way and any ivirus of this present Will be destroyed.

Thnx!!

*yes i think it is because of shaving .. mostly it's gone within 1/2 days and it is on the hair follicles.

* for the beach day i meant that if you are having an ob and lesions , normally you put some cream (i did) with zinkoxide on it to cover. But if you are a day at the beach, you can't put something on it .. is that a problem?

* then something else .. i have a constant "rash" around my anus... it is very red etc. it looks irritated with bumps and all. I didnt really see blisters/lesions. Now i used something against yeast infection (cream) but suddenly it looked worse with wounds/cuts. Could this be herpes?

It is not a problem not to put anything on lesions for a day at the beach, no.
When you say that you have a constant rash, what do you mean - days, weeks, months?  If it has bumps and wounds and cuts, you need to be seen and have this evaluated to see what it is.
Honestly, I have no idea what temperature laundry should be - I just turn mine to warm, hot or cold, depending on what I'm washing.  The soap in the washer with the laundry even at warm should kill the virus very nicely

The rash is now for weeks I think! But i will see the doc if it will remain itchy and red. But is there a possibility that it is (mild) herpes without real lesions.

Something at last; my baby boy was drinking his bottle on the couch and i was wearing a skirt. He is a bit wild and kicked me with his feet against my leg/ and later he hit my vagina. Of course i wear underwear but it shifted aside a little bit. So he hit my labia (at least i'm concerned he did) for a second. Is this (no outbreak for what i know) dangerous in terms of infecting him?

Thnks!

Herpes would not be present for weeks at a time and no, I don't believe this is herpes without lesions.
The situation you describe with you baby boy does not put him at any risk of infection from you IF you have herpes. If there was a risk, I would certainly tell you - there is not.  I know you are a good mama and you of course want to keep you baby safe but you have done nothing that is risky for him - promise
