Dr. Hunter/Hook,Thank you for your guidance and assurance that I am not infected. I would like to give you a brief overview of my exposure and symptoms.May 8th had unprotected oral (receiver) and protected vaginal sec with an escort. She had no visible sores on her lips or face.
May12th: sudden sharp pain in penis and pain while urination has started. Noticed tiny pimples ( not blisters) on penis head. Immediately went to urgent care and took Gonn/chlam/trich and herpes culture test and was given bactrim till I get my results. Came home and applied Neosporin and pimples went away in a day.
Pain started to go away slowly and after 3 days pain came down. Was having mild pain. Got my results, everything came back negative. Went to my PCP, he saw everything and said not herpes and said mostly NSU and was prescribed Doxy for week. Pain went away in 2 days after starting doxy but finished the course. Everything was back to normal like before.
After 2 weeks of finishing my course, I dry masturbated 8-9 times in 4 days. 4th day I masturbated differently, I forgot that I applied Neosporin and masturbated with 2 fingers (thumb and index) only sliding it on penis head. Got drunk later that dayl ( only beer). Next day I woke up with burning and mild pain in penis head while urination and started taking lot of fluids and had mild diahrrea for 2 days ( burning in butt crack while taking dump). First day burning was crazy even when I am not urinating and burning was mostly on penis head. Second and third day burning reduced a lot and pain also reduced significantly and diarrhea gone. Called my urologist, he said it might be due to inflammation of blood vessels in urethra and irritation. Asked me to take Levaquin 500mg for 1 week. Before started taking levaquin I went for full panel STD test ( including herpes 1&2) which is 38 days after exposure (4 days short of 6 weeks). I started taking levaquin from today and feeling little better (occasional burning while urination- not every time). I got my herpes results which came back negative for both 1&2. And I am thinking my HIV 4th gen will also come negative.
My questions:
- Will HIV be conclusive at 38 days? I know the guidelines have changed to 6 weeks (4th gen test)
- Given my exposure and symptoms do you think it is GHSV1 or 2? Do you recommend testing at 12 weeks? Or should I consider my self negative and move on.
- Are Gonn, chlam, Tric, hep a,b, c and syphillis conclusive at 38 days? I think I was vaccinated for hep a&b.

I'm sorry that you felt the need to return to our site. As each of us has tried to indicate, you are really worrying far more about this exposure than is appropriate, given the low risk nature of the exposure and your negative tests to date. This is your 4th new question in less than a month. When clients have posted this much over such a short period, our experience that they would be far better served by seeking professional help for their inappropriate anxiety than by our answers or further testing. With that, I'll address these questions but will warn you that you are reaching a point at which we will need to limit your access to the site.
- Will HIV be conclusive at 38 days? I know the guidelines have changed to 6 weeks (4th gen test)
At five weeks according to the most recent assessment of HIV test performance there is still a tiny chance that a combination HIV antigen/antibody test could miss a recently acquired infection. That however suggests that you may have had an exposure which put you at risk. That is not the case for you. There is virtually no risk from either condom protected sex when the condom is worn throughout the encounter and despite the theoretical possibility, there has never been a proven case of HIV acquisition resulting from oral sex. Thus, for you, while probably not necessary at all, a 38 day test would be conclusive.
2. Given my exposure and symptoms do you think it is GHSV1 or 2? Do you recommend testing at 12 weeks? Or should I consider my self negative and move on.
This is repetitive question. None of us on these forums believe that you acquired HSV of any sort from the exposure you describe. I urge you to consider your self not infected and move forward without concern.
3/ Are Gonn, chlam, Tric, hep a,b, c and syphillis conclusive at 38 days? I think I was vaccinated for hep a&b
Yes.
I hope these answers will let you move forward without concern. EWH
