[Question #2359] Final?

Doctors. I apologise for the new question. I must be crazy. I have been talking to a counselor and I guess havnt made any progress. As you'll see I asked a couple of questions about a montht/2 months ago. Exposure handjob. Symptoms. Maybe weight loss, nail infection, and possibly lymph swelling my doctor did say I had it then upon the  follow up said they were smaller. I have had an hiv rna test at 19 days, and multiple 4th generation tests last being at 10 weeks. Is there any benefit to testing again? My doctor has instructed me to test again at 6 months. He does not know I tested at 6 weeks and 10 weeks only about the rna and 4 week tests. I think his request to test again is what is keeping my mind at bay. Thanks, sincerely the fool.

I'm sorry, but you're asking exactly the same questions that were answered in your previous three threads. Your exposure was no risk, your symptoms do not suggest HIV, and the HIV tests you have had are absolutely conclusive. Why in heaven's name didn't you tell your doctor about all your HIV tests. If he is hyper-conservative about such things, maybe he will still recommend another test at 6 months, but probably not. You do not need it.

Please note the forum does not permit repeated questions on the same topic or exposure. This being your fourth (even though one was by mistake), it will have to be your last; future new questions about this exposure, testing, and your fears about HIV or other STDs will be deleted without reply and without refund of the posting fee. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers. In addition, continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties. Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. Thank you for your understanding.

I appreciate you even responding so thank you. My doctor new of the RNA test at 4 weeks tests. When I asked all he said was a random comment on how sensitive the western blot test is. And told me to take another test around 6 months in August. Nothing about 6 weeks or 3months. I did the other tests on my own and have not seen him.  That all being said, I have in the last few days  developed random itchy bumps, I assume are some type of insect bite or poison plant related. I had about 8 bumps on forearms/wrist. And also noticed another 4 on my foot. They are itchy but have treated them with cortisone and seen better. From what I see/read does not seem  to sound like a hiv rash?

All I can say is that your doctor has either an antiquated understanding of HIV testing reliability, and timing; or as I said above, hyper conservative about testing. For example, Western blot no longer is done at all except in special and unusual situations, and it is never necessary to wait 6 months for conclusive results.

Sympoms like yours do not even hint at HIV as the cause. You cannot go through life attributing every itch, twinge and tingle to a sexual exposure you apparently regret. And your test results to date prove you don't have it.
