[Question #2371] RE: Testing Information

Hello Experts,

Yesterday I participated in some sexual activities with a woman. I'm sorry if I am using crude or dated terms, but I'll describe what we did with the terms I am familiar with. She gave me a hand job and I finished on her chest. We kiss a little bit on the lips with no tongue. She did "toss my salad" and put her index finger in my anus, overall both activities combined were less than a minute. Before she did those two activities I looked at her hands and her tongue and inside her mouth and did not notice any open sores, cuts or any open wounds.  She told me she was tested a month ago and everything was negative. We did not have intercourse. I actually did an STD test on June 22, 2017 and everything was negative. I usually test every 2-4 months, my last test before this latest one was April 2017. When should I go again to do testing?

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  Congratulations on your asking your partner about her STI status and testing history- most people will tell you the truth about this.

I am not familiar with the term "toss my salad".  could you tell me what is meant by that so that I can comment on that activity?  As for the other activities, you describe - kissing, receipt of masturbation, insertion of her finger into your anus- these are all no risk events which, even if she did have an STI, would not lead to transmission of infection to you.  Thus, I see no reason for concern and no reason to test for any STI related to the exposure you have described.

I hope these comments are helpful.  I look forward to learning what it means to have your "salad tossed."  EWH

Hello Dr. Hook,

Thank you for your response. To clarify, what I meant by "toss my salad" i mean she licked my anus. Please let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for the clarification as to your term.  Having your anus licked is also a no risk for STI.  I would not worry at all about this exposure and again, see no reason for concern or for STI testing.  EWH

Thank you Dr. Hook. Are there STI's/STD's that are passed from saliva?

No there is no evidence that STIs are spread by contact with saliva.  If that were the case, people would be getting STIs when they shared a drink, a straw, or an eating utensil and that does not happen.  Further supporting this is that kissing, even open mouthed kissing in which saliva is exchanged, is not a risk for STIs.

This is my third reply to your questions.  As per Forum Guidelines, which permit up to three  replies per question, this thread will be closed later today.  Take care and please don't worry about the encounter you have described.  EWH
