Hello dr's im a 28 year old male married and have a beautiful 11 month old son.  I'll first off start by saying neither do I or my wife have ever been diagnosed with an std besides hsv1 as they call it.  Anyways too cut the story short I went down to a local massage parlor had good reviews etc on yahoo looking for a massage I got one.  My underwear stayed on the whole time as well as she stayed fully clothed no big deal well exactly 36 days later I have a fever and my wife has sinusitis with a massive headache my fever has been bouncing on me these last couple days and my body aches severely to were I just want to curl up in a ball the date of the exposure was June 28th and the fever started for me 2 days ago for me and has gone and come it will spike to 101 then drop down then go back up the body aches won't let go and my head is hurting really bad honestly just worried asking for a risk assessment on all std's and HIV I searched google and that was a mistake told me I could have HIV etc.. looking for a professionals opinion and suggestions please and thank you.

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be pleased to comment.  As I understand it, there was no genital contact during your massage, your underwear stayed on and the masseuse remaining fully closed during the encounter.  As such I can assure you that this was an absolutely no risk event with no STI (including HIV)  risk whatsoever.  That being the case, your current fever and your wife's sinusitis is coincidental and nothing more.  There is no reason for concern, no reason for testing.

It would be a good idea however to stay off the internet.  The information you tend to find there is all too often taken out of context or simply incorrect and misleading.

I hope these comments are helpful to you.  EWH

Correct.  Your current flu-like illness is merely and unfortunate coincidence.  EWH---

Well I was happy last night fever and body aches went away was feeling great then I woke up this morning to foto work and almost collapsed from body aches fever slightly back theist is really scratchy and my head is killing me I went down to the urgent care and the doctor seemed puzzled he explained that flu would normally hit me and then go away not come back and forth like the body can't fight off what is going on.  Feel like going their was another mistake I'm really confused considering all this doc I'm scared for my wife and child as if I did something wrong which I did not

I'm sorry to hear that this illness is hitting you so hard.  That it has persisted however in no way changes my confidence that this is not an STI related in any way to the events at the massage parlor that you have described.  You my have gotten dehydrated or this may just be the course of the illness.  If the problems persist, I would not got back to the urgent care center but would see your regular doctor who can see you in follow-up.

This is my third reply to your questions.  As a result, this thread will be closed without further replies in a few hours. Please don't worry about at STI or any sort from the events you describe above.  - you will not be "struck by lightning" or be found to have an STI.  EWH
