Hello there,
I have always known I have HSV1. Last year I found out through blood test I have hsv2 igg was 1.35 initially. I was very upset and anxious I did several tests to try to confirm diagnosis. My HSV1 index was 42 high.
6/24/16
The herpes select hsv2 igg with inhibition was 1.42
The inhibition was positive 1.84, inhibition 87%.
7/7/16 labcorp
Hsv2 type specific antibody igg was 1.87 high
12/17/16 quest labs
Hsv2 igg herpeslect was 1.35High
What's fascinating now is that I just retested at quest labs again on 8/8/17
The test results says hsv2 type specific antibody igg is
<.90 index or negative.
33.40 index for HSV1 igg
Is this possible ? Do I not have hsv2? I'm so confused. Should i do the university of Washington western blot to confirm and put my anxiety to rest ?
Thank you!

Yes, you absolutely do need the herpes western blot confirmatory test. The CDC says that everyone who gets an index value between 1.1 and 3.5 needs a confirmatory test. About 50% of people who test positive in that range are falsely positive - which means they aren't really infected with HSV 2. I would STRONGLY encourage you to do that. My guess is that you will test negative. This test should be done about 12 weeks after you last have sex with anyone whose herpes status you don't know. You can google University of Washington herpes western blot for the number to call for the kit to be sent to you. Then you will need to find a provider to arrange for the blood draw and be the official person to order the test.
