Dr Handsfield-
Symptoms persisted so visited my doctor. He performed a DRE and said based on my symptoms that I had prostatitis. Put me on doxy for 1 month.
Is it safe to assume this issue is in no way related to the hand to genital massage experience?
It's not possible to have gotten NGU, Chlamydia or Gonn through that hand to genital encounter right? What about from the towel she used to clean me up?
Is prostatitis even related to any of those infections anyway?
Thanks!

Welcome back, but sorry to see you found a need for it.
---
Prostatitis is not sexually acquired or transmitted. In your other thread we also discussed in some detail that no STDs, including NGU, chlamydia, or gonorrhea, are ever transmitted by hand-genital contact. And your symptoms were not consistent with any of these infections anyway. As also discussed last time, your symptoms were most consistent with genitally focused anxiety over a regretted sexual exposure. And while I cannot criticize the diagnosis of a physician based on direct exam, I am skepical you have prostatitis and will be surprised if doxycycline makes any difference in your symptoms. Prostatitis is not an easy diagnosis, and in fact most prostatitis is now reclassified (by the American Urological Association) as chronic pelvic pain syndrome. I suggest you google CPPS (spell it out) and see how well it describes your situation. There's a very good Wikipedia article and also excellent information from the Stanford University dept of urology. You may wish to discuss this possibility with your doctor.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but hope this information is useful. Best wishes--

Thanks. I just read on a couple of what appear to be reputable sites that prostatitis can be caused by chlamydia and was alarmed. I sure hope the doxy provides relief even if it's a placebo effect.

There have been claims from some quarters, and assumptions from others, that chlamydia or gonorrhea can cause prostatitis. Gonorrhea certainly can (but only with very severe symptoms) but chlamydia has never been documented as a cause. In any case, I reiterate once more that there is no way you acquired theser or any STD from the exposure you are concerned about.

I too hope you get relief from your symptoms. But I also want you to have realistic expectations.

Dr Handsfield -
Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding your response, but for clarity are you saying prostatitis in fact can be sexually acquired vis a vis a gonorrhea infection?
Final question- suppose the masseuse had bacteria from one of those STIs on her hand - after a 45 min normal massage with oil , would those bacteria stilll be viable?
Thx

Oh good grief. Yes, gonorrhea (which is acquired only sexually) can cause prostatitis. I also explained why this is irrelevant to your current situation.
---
Your "final question" is based on a misconception. It does not matter whether or not the bacteira or viruses that cause STDs can survive 45 minutes on someone's hands. Probably not, but nobody knows for sure and nobody should care. If hand-gential contact neverresults in transmission, the biological reasons don't matter.
That completes the two follow-up comments and replies included with each question, and so concludes this thread. Please note the forum does not permit
repeated questions on the same topic or exposure. This will have to be your
last one; future new questions about this exposure, testing, and your fears
about STDs from this or similar events will be deleted without reply and without
refund of the posting fee. This policy is based on
compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying
for questions with obvious answers. In addition, experience shows that
continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties rather than reducing them.
Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of
the forum's main purposes. I trust you will understand.
