Patient Profile
Gender: Male
Age: 67
Visited a Doctor: No
Medications Tried: N/A
Ok, I believe you but I am extremely cautious so when I reviewed a web site from a Dr Arani in US below its suggests some possibilities re Foreplay and more specifically some of the things I was concerned about like fingering, mutual masturbation, and I am not sure about kissing, panties to lips, etc. But to the point you made Doc NEVER was there any sexual penetration....no vaginal sex, no anal, no oral. By the way, another university doc who is a friend said you are right.
Just read this other Dr's article below though and you will understand my confusion....is this dr wrong or theoretically possible and simply trying to sell a lot more testing.....this is mainly what his practice does ...all sorts of STD tests.

He has this as a part of his Foreplay link on website:

What is Foreplay:
In human sexual behavior Foreplay is a set of intimate psychological and physical acts between two or more people to increase arousal. Foreplay may precedes intercourse and may not. Some would be described as following:

Touching:
You may get STD by skin to skin contact with your partner. some example would be
Molluscum Contagiosum, HPV, Herpes, syphilis. scabies
Example:
Molluscum contagiosum are papular eruption usually around genital and by direct skin to skin contact.
Syphilis by contact to spirochetes bacteria
Herpes by contact to herpes viral shedding
Genital warts by HPV viral shedding
etc
Manual Stimulation "Hand job"
This is a common practice and patient usually received this by sex worker. This would involved partner provided hand stimulation for sexual arousal.
Risk will be as following:
1)Sex worker/ Partner use her saliva (body fluid) for masturbation
2) If sex worker has contaminated hand , sometimes from infected discharge of previous customer by performing the same act
3)Sex worker use contaminated oil or lubricant or lotion
Remember size of bacteria, parasites and virus responsible for STD are so small that it is impossible to see them Use protection at all time to minimize your risk

Fingering:
It is a manual stimulation of a female's sex organs or female/male anus.
Std risk will be divided in 2 main branches
1) If there is a fissure or cut on skin:
It is easier to contract bloodborne diseases, HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, etc

2) Intact Skin:
chances of bloodborne STD will be lower than above
However there is risk of some other STD such as Herpes

Now if contaminated hand with bacteria such as haemophilus Ducreyi, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia... then it could infect and contaminate other part of the body.
Mutual Masturbation: If you exchange hand, for example, you touch your partner then you touch your own genital then you are at risk of infection.
If you accidentally got in contact with body fluid then quickly wash your hand with antibacterial soap and water to decrease chance of transmission.

I know I mentioned before but my fingernails and possible cuts. My confusion is this guy is an infectious disease doctor but not with your credentials...he did attend Loma Linda. Is it simply scare tactics to sell more testing and thearetical but not ever seen in practice? Thanks..I will do my best to avoid follow ups albeit I did pay again.

I'm sorry that your casual receipt of masturbation continues to worry you.  I do not know Dr. Arani and find the comments from him/her that you insert in your post inflammatory and anxiety producing without any basis if fact or quality research.  The internet is a great means of communication but sadly, it also allows mis-statements and presentation of statements taken out of context in a way that simply fuel anxieties for persons who are feeling a bit guilty or anxious.  Some health care providers worry that they might be wrong and as a result tend to go overboard in their comments and recommendations without paying attention to the potential negative impact of such statements.  This saddens me.  Taking the same approach I could describe the dangers of crossing the street in terms (with, unlike the post you have inserted, real examples) that might make you think that every time you do so you are at great risk for being run over by a truck.  I cannot comment on this person's reason for making the statements that you have quoted but I can tell you that they are unrealistic and scientifically unsupportable.  With that I have nothing more to say.  You will have to decide who you want to believe and what you want to do about it.  EWH.

Thanks Dr Hook! In that you are an educator and specialist in this field I am going to accept your word as opposed to this other Dr. Which I likely should have the first time. However, in that the other Dr is a specialist in sexually transmitted diseases and I took the information I forwarded directly off his website it would appear since they do heavy testing that they are prying on people's fears and anxieties. If true it obviously so very wrong and I'm so pleased how reputable you and your team members are. People should use this as an example of not believing everything just because you've read it! Keep up your excellent work!
