Hi. In our previohs discussion you mentioned that uou can not get heroes from saliva. After browsing through many of the quedtions on this forum it seems that some of the experts your self included had mebtioned that using saliva as a lubricant cam possibly transmit herpes. Can you please explain the difference between the 2 cases in detail. Also you mentioned that kids can aquire HSV 1 from other children on the play ground through direct contact not saliva. What lind of contact are you redferimg to if children are not kissing each other on the mouth. I may not be able to respond for a while so would you mind keepinf this open until i can respond?
Thanks for everything you do. Dont mean to rehash everyyhinh but im just bery anxious.

I think you might be misreading something here. While herpes can be transmitted by kissing and oral sex, it is not transmitted via saliva alone and certainly not in the way that your situation went. In children, they do kiss each other and rub up against each other's mouths. I've spoken with Dr. Hook about your post and he and I both want you to know that you are likely misreading something in a former post about transmission via saliva. You contact was not a risk for herpes.

Thanks for your reply. I am referring to question 2607, where the questioner says that her partner used his saliva as lubricant on her. In one if your responses you mention that if he had HSV2 them she conceptually could have contracted it from her partner in the scenario she mentioned. I do not intend to question you at all, i am just paranoid and need some clarity on the issue. Thanks

The situation described was different. Your situation does not warrant worry about transmission

So just to get closure, you are saying that there is no reason risk in my situation and that saliva can not transmit herpes?

I am saying that saliva alone cannot transmit herpes in the situation that you describe, correct. I have also spoken with Dr. Hook and he agrees completely with my response.
