[Question #2642] Anxiety over herpes

Hello - 6 weeks ago I received a handjob from a massage therapist - after I left I noticed what looks like friction burns/cuts on my penis.   She did use oil but it was fairly vigorous.   They have since healed but I'm just very nervous that I got herpes.  Can I pleasebe reassured that this was not a risky encounter for this?  Thank you

There is no risk of acquiring herpes from masturbation by another person.  If you noticed lesions on your penis immediately, that might be due to something else but not herpes.  When people do contract herpes, it takes anywhere from 2-10 days to develop lesions.  But again, you had zero risk for acquiring herpes from this experience.

Please let me know what other questions you might have

Thank you Terri - I've never had a hsv test and I'm wondering if I should get the western blot just to calm my nerves and not have the chance of a false positive with the other tests. Could I go through you for this?  Would you recommend?

I would not recommend herpes testing at all based on your experience with the massage person, NO!  Not at all.
If you want to know if you have herpes in general or are concerned that these things that you saw on your penis that looked like cuts could be herpes from a previous exposure that was actually intercourse with someone, that might be a reason to test if you are worried about that.  And if you want to avoid the possibility of a false positive, then yes, I can help you with the western blot.  But again, I would not recommend any necessary testing from this encounter.
