[Question #2699] Cut

I had a small cut (1 mm) on my index finger.  It bled about 2 hours prior to my Encounter.

During my encounter,  he ejaculated.  About 10 seconds later some of the fluid got on the area where the cut was.    Am I at any risk for contracting hiv?  How long does it take for a small cut to heal enough to prevent transmission?

Welcome to the Forum.  I think some of the detail regarding your exposure are missing however it appears that your concern related to exposure of a recent (2 hours) cut on your finger to the ejaculate of a partner.  You do not mention is you know whether your partner had HIV or other STIs or not but whether he did is actually irrelevant. This sort of exposure is not a risk for acquisition of HIV of any other STI.  Cuts seal off at about the time they stop bleeding and even though they may remain irritated and may even open up and bleed a bit more at a later time, they do not provide a portal of entry for acquisition of infection.  I would not be worried about this exposure.  Using the same reasoning, there is no need for testing related to this sort of exposure either.

If there are additional details or related questions, please do not hesitate to ask for follow-up clarification.  This site permits up to two follow-up questions.  Take care.  EWH

Thank you doctor.   His hiv status is unknown.   Has hiv ever been transmitted this way?

There are no cases I have ever heard of in which HIV was transmitted this way.  I would not worry.  EWH---
