[Question #2704] Believe results?

I wrote Dr. HHH in the weeks past about having had two weakly reactive oraquick tests despite always having used condoms and never having had one fail and being exclusively heterosexual, but in my anxiety I had that thread deleted. I mentioned the fiance who said that without risk factors the tests were false positives. He said that I was "almost certainly" negative but that I still needed a proper laboratory test to be sure. After weeks of torment, I finally found a website and went down to labcorb and had my blood drawn for a HIV 4th generation test. 20 hours later, the website said "negative" and "non reactive." Surprised, I took two more oraquick tests and had two negative results a few hours apart.
I had convinced myself that I was HIV+ despite no risk factors. I thought I must have gotten it from a lap dance or from a masseuse who rubbed my anus because I just didn't understand how else it could be possible. I lost my mind.
Now, I believe I am negative due to the non-reactive blood test test a week ago through labcorp, but I am having symptoms of PTSD (nightmares, insomnia).
I am trying to put this all behind me. You said "stop all of this mental masturbation and just do it" (meaning, have an actual blood test).
I knew I was being a wuss, so I listened.
Can I believe the results of this non-reactive 4th gen test through labcorp? And the 2 subsequent negative tests w/oraquick?
No unprotected sex, no IV drug use, exclusively heterosexual, etc.

I failed to mention that the initial 2 weakly reactive tests (very weakly reactive) were 2 years ago. Then, I lived with fear and doubt for 2 years, finally having the actual blood test done a week ago and having a negative result followed by 2 negative oraquicks. Hope that helps to clear up confusion.

Welcome back to the forum.

I'm very glad to hear my advice last time has made a difference, and glad you were finally tested. As we apparently discussed last time, this was the only predictable or logical outcome. The oral fluids tests are the only HIV tests that fairly commonly give false positive results. That's clearly what happened here. You definitely can believe the results of your more recent tests. As was obvious from the start, you don't have HIV!
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
