[Question #2872] Hydrocortison and Antibodies

Dear Doctor, I wanted to ask on behalf of my sister. She helped someone during a road accident (without gloves, obviously, she was a bystander) . She does not know the status of the person , but still tested 6,5 weeks after the incident. During these 6,5 weeks she had 2 shots of steroids in her keloid scar ( it was small, however, she thinks doctors said just 1-2 mm each time) she also had laser treatment to treat a few of her scars, thermage treatment and used Hydrocortison cream at home twice ( also about 1 mg each time) . She wanted me to know if this can impact her test results (they are negative) . Thank you

You are trying to bypass my warning about repeated posts by asking a question about someone else.

Hydrocortisone or other steroid injections  have no effect on risk of HIV if exposed. In fact, there are NO medicines of any kind that have any effect on reliability of HIV test results. The negative blood test at 6 weeks is reliable, even if "your sister" was exposed to HIV infected blood.
