[Question #2874] STD-risk

Hello, I live in Europe. I had an encounter with a CSW. We did not perform any sex, I did not take off my clothes. But we kissed, not too deep. I touched her skin with my fingers and also touched her outer genitals with my hand. Nothing more. Is there any STD-risk for me, e. g. gonorrhea (maybe in the eye?) or syphilis?

Thank you very much!

Welcome to ur Forum.  I will be glad to comment.  In Germany legal commercial sex workers are required to be tested for STIs including HIV on a regular basis.  As a result, infections are rare in this group.  In the case of the events that you describe, these are no risk interactions.  There are no STIs whic are transmitted through kissing or through touching a person's genitals with your hands and then touching yourself (anywhere, includin gthe eye).  Further no STIs can be transmitted through clothing.  The interaction you describe was entirely safe with no risk for infection.  There is no reason to worry and no reason to test.

I hope this comment is helpful to you.  Take care.  EWH

Just one finaa question for my information - as a collegue from Orthopedic Surgery:
Do you regard doxycyclin as an appropriate and safe antbiotic in the treatment and postexposure-prophylaxis of syphilis?

Best regards

Doxycycline is safe and highly effective for syphilis and syphilis prevention as long as it is taken for at least a week.  EWH
