[Question #2946] HSV 2 concern

About 14 weeks ago i met with a VERY promiscuous woman. my penis was leaning upwards towards my stomach and she grinded on the underside of my shaft. I only made contact with her buttocks and lower back for that moment. I did not see any lesions. I did not come into contact with her vagina nor anus. Later she provided me with a hand job lubricated with saliva by licking her hand. No kissing took place nothing else as well. My symptoms consisted of red spots appearing all over the glands of my penis. I saw on medhelp that washing it twice a day would help so i did and it went away a few days later. Then they appeared again, but a bit more mild. Saw a men's health physician and he said it was candida balanitis and prescribed lotrimin. it only cleared the spots for a short period of time but then would come back if i went a day without showering. Went to a different dr and he prescribed me econazole. (seems to be working great).  A red bump appeared on the underside of my shaft but had a small black center. A physcian looked at it and said it was a blackhead and not to scratch. I had a red bump on my buttock yesterday and it was said to be a pimple. and today my neck feels a little stiff. I did take the hsv igg blood test.
My results (six weeks from encounter)
Labcorp (kaiser hospital)
hsv 1 igg, ser, qn: positive (recent infection have been tested negative previously)
hsv 2 igg, ser, qn: negative(7 weeks 5 days from ecounter)
Quest Hsv 1 Herpeselect igg: positive (a week later i was confirmed to have cold sores by physical examination of my inner lip)
Hsv 2 herpeselect igg: negative
12 weeks exactly labcorp (kaiser) Hsv 1 igg, ser, qn: negative
Hsv 2 igg, ser, qn: negative
can i believe my twelve week hsv 2 exam at 12 weeks and move on with my life? (i am aware of fasle negatives for hsv 1) would hsv1 delay hsv2 ant at the 12 week mark. what is the likelihood of being a false negative and asymptomatic for hsv 2. do any of these symptoms sound anything i should worry about

Your contact with her buttocks and back present no risk for acquiring HSV  infection.  If that was the only contact that you had.
With 92% certainty, you can believe at 12 weeks that you are uninfected.  Your HSV 1 results are all over the place, likely because the IgG test for HSV 1 is quite poor, when compared to the gold standard western blot antibody test.  I don't think should assume for a moment that you have new HSV 1 infection, due to this encounter.  Red spots all over the head of the penis sound absolutely nothing like herpes but as the doc who saw you said "candidad balanitis" seems quite reasonable.

Thank you so much for your advice! Just a few questions I don't mean to be a pest.
1) Is it safe to say I can move on with my life and stop thinking about herpes?
2) is a 16 week test necessary at this point or should not retest.
3)is there a difference between 12 to 16 weeks for igg testing (any statistical difference perhaps?)
4) have you ever seen someone have a false negative after twelve weeks and be asymptomatic (if that's possible)
5) I for some reason keep having cold sores reoccur inside my lip every couple weeks they're very small is this common?
Thank you so much I really appreciate you taking the time and care for my situation. You're amazing!

1.  yes
2. no, 12 weeks is as good as it is going to get with this test unless you have used antiviral therapy?
3.  nope
4.  The IgG test has an 8% false negative result for HSV 2 and a 30% false negative rate for HSV 1 compared to the gold standard herpes western blot, so yes, I have seen that with the IgG test
5.  It's difficult to know if these are herpes or canker sores - you would have to have them swab tested to know for certain.

Thank you so much for the reasurrance!!
the only last questions i have left are
1) is redness on the head of the penis unusual after masturbation? i get that a lot and get concerned
2) are black heads common on the underside of the shaft of the penis. i find it strange that i had a red bump with a black dot in the middle and later to be confirmed that it was a black head. no discharge or pus was in the area. did not blister or anything just went away by not touching the area in a day or 2.
3) how long would recurrent oral herpes last usually? mine only last for about 3 days usually they do start with redness in the area, then white dots occurr ending with little red small holes in my lip. i watched them and have taken note. I find it strange also that they come and go fast so i was wondering does that sound like cold sores.

Goodness, I guess if the masturbation is quite aggressive, it could get red.  Did you ever notice redness before?  You might not have even noticed with nothing to raise your worry level.
I guess people can get blackheads on the penis if they can get pimples which happens all the time.  Can you squeeze it out?  That would be the question I would ask first.
A cold sore lasts normally 1-2 weeks. Some don't last that long. In order to know for sure, you would need to have it swab tested.
