[Question #3025] HIV Concern

Hi Doctor,
Sorry to come back and post again, but it is been after a long time, so please do answer my question.

One of my fingers had a CRACKED skin (2 mm) due to cold and it was BLEEDING a little bit.

I went to a strip club and this happened -

1) One of the strippers stopped by and held my hand for 5 - 10 mins. I am not sure if she had something on her hands keeping in mind that she had pole-danced few mins ago. Is there anything 'microscopic' that could have caused HIV above?

2) I went to the restroom there and used a cloth towel (which was given to me by the attendant there) to wipe my hands. The towel was lying on the counter for few mins when I picked it. I am sure that I did not see any blood on it, but I am not sure about any other secretions (semen, vaginal fluids) it may have. The towel felt dry to me though.

3) One of the strippers rubbed herself against my jeans, and may have touched my belt buckle. I later on unbuckled myself in the restroom to pee, and may have touched my penis with the same hands while peeing.

4) Did I put myself at any risk for HIV? Do I need to test?

5) Is it fair to say that if a surface (hand, towel etc) looks clean, there is no way HIV can transfer to the other person? I mean blood can not be missed, but not sure about the secretions that may be 10-15 mins old and may have dried up.

Now on question number 8.  To your credit, it has been 6 months since your last test so I will provide a brief, somewhat repetitive answer (you would do well to review the answers to your prior questions).   To repeat, HIV is not ever transmitted by tou8ching, irrespective of what is on your or another person's hands and irrespective of whether or not there are recent sores,  cuts or abrasions on your hands or elsewhere that is touched.  Thus:

1) One of the strippers stopped by and held my hand for 5 - 10 mins. I am not sure if she had something on her hands keeping in mind that she had pole-danced few mins ago. Is there anything 'microscopic' that could have caused HIV above? No!!

No risk.  HIV and other STIs are not transmitted on contaminated towels or washcloths.

3) One of the strippers rubbed herself against my jeans, and may have touched my belt buckle. I later on unbuckled myself in the restroom to pee, and may have touched my penis with the same hands while peeing.
See above- no risk.

4) Did I put myself at any risk for HIV? Do I need to test?
No, nothing you describe indicates any medical need for testing for HIV or any other STI.

5) Is it fair to say that if a surface (hand, towel etc) looks clean, there is no way HIV can transfer to the other person? I mean blood can not be missed, but not sure about the secretions that may be 10-15 mins old and may have dried up.
Correct.  Please see above.
