[Question #3057] Sero Immune Kubulin elevated

Just got a call from my doctor and my Sero Immune kobulin was elevated. Would this given me a false negative on any of my STI results including HIV1 or HIV2 results?

Most likely you mean serum immune globulin. This is a very nonspecific test, meaning the result does not point to any particular diagnosis. It also would not interfere in any way with testing for HIV or any other STD. No STD is likely to cause it, and many or most people with such test results have nothing wrong.

Keep working with your doctor about any ongoing health concerns, but do your best to avoid the temptation to attribute every twitch, tingle, or health concern to that sexual exposure. In any case, repeated questions are not permitted on the forum. This being your third, it will have to be your last on anything related to that exposure. However, I hope this reply has helped. Best wishes and stay safe.

Why did you change 100% negative from the orginal reply?

You must have read an initial reply before I edited it. My original reply partly missed the main point of your question; you never asked whether this test might indicate you have HIV. So I modified it to answer exactly the question you asked: does this test make it more likely your HIV test result would be false. It does not. It also does not suggest you have HIV or any STD. Sorry for any confusion -- I was just trying to be more responsive to your main concern.

So after all these questions I could still have an SDI or HIV?

Huh?? Where did you get that?? I said no such thing. In your previous two threads, you were advised you did not catch HIV, and all I said here is that your immune globulin test makes no difference.
