[Question #3153] Burning itchness around anus

Hello doctor..... I’ve been on this website before. Just wanted to ask I’ve been diagnosed with hemroids a few years back went to a specialist and he diagnosed me and said it was hemroids . And I have flare ups thru out the year . I don’t know if it’s from the hemroids or maybe herpes. It itches and burns but not directly on the anal opening more so around it and I showed my doctor a week ago and he said it looks like iratation. He gave me viaderm to apply. Do you think it could be herpes ? Or just hemroids flaring up from poor diet or alcohol.

Interesting question.  It is possible that this could be herpes.  Have you had an antibody test to look for herpes?

I have not gotten any tests done. Doctor said that if you’ve had cold cores then the tests will not be reliable.
Also I had incredible tingly and burning sensation around my groin. But after 3 weeks of that it stopped no blisters no lesions. It started after I trimmed my pubic area. What do you think that could be ? Herpes ?
I did see one very tiny bump just on groin not on penis  before the tingly and burning sensation started showed the doc and he said that is def not herpes also it didn’t pain.
I am very concerned about this doctor

Actually, your doctor is mistaken.  The antibody test is called type specific because it can sort out HSV 1 (the cause of cold sores) from HSV 2 (the cause of lots of genital herpes).  It is likely that your issues really are hemorrhoids but if this worries you, you might try ordering the test yourself with one of many services online.  Perhaps that will provide you the reassurance that you need to put this behind you.

If it was herpes thr would have been sores by now am I correct ? Been dealing with the flare ups for 2 years now and no sores or blisters.

Yes, there would have likely been breaks in the skin if it was herpes but I'm not sure if you could see them?
