[Question #3177] Hsv 1 genital second ob

Hello, I am currently experiencing my second hsv 1 genital out break after being diagnosed with an initial primary outbreak 7  mths ago.  Tested positive by a swab for hsv 1 genital. I was so determined to make it to the year mark with out another outbreak, kept my immune system up with healthy living as much as possible.  But I have ended up with this current outbreak of 1 tiny tiny sore. On the outside skin of the vagina.  The blister itself  doesn’t hurt but the skin beside and running down my crotch area is burning. It feels like matches are being held to my skin.  Is this typical with an second ob?  I didn’t have my first ob at this location it was 1 blister right on my clitoris in which the blister was very painful.  Is this burning skin pain common? Is it common that it didn’t reoccur in the same spot on my clitoris and is about an inch away on the  outer labia skin?  I have taken the valrax for 3 days but the burning has not subsided.  Are these all common second ob things?  Because I had a 2nd break out again before reaching the year mark will I experience more ob’s?  I was hoping to be in the category of hsv 1 genital people who just have 1 and then never again .  Thank you for any advise or clarification you can provide.

It is very common to get an outbreak in a new location from the first one and yes, the burning skin is common as well.
And it is also common for people with genital HSV 1 to have more outbreaks in the first year than in subsequent years.  After the first year, the average number of outbreaks per year is 0.7 - so about every other year.  So my second question is are you certain this is an outbreak?  The burning should get better with antiviral therapy.  How much Valtrex are you taking daily now?
