[Question #3317] Herpes HSV 2 exposure
|
Hello, last night (12 hrs ago) I performed oral sex for about 15 min on a female. My penis, with no condom on, also gently brushed/touched the outside of her vagina a few times but did not ever penetrate her.
Following this encounter the female told me she had herpes HSV-2, she is taking a daily dose of Valacyclovir, and didn’t feel the need to tell me prior to the oral sex because we weren’t going to have vaginal sex with my penis and the chances of transmitting orally to my mouth are very low.
I did not notice any outbreaks/sores on her and have no symptoms so far.
It sounds like I have to wait about 1-3months before it’s even worth me getting a blood test?
I realize you can’t offer conclusive advice but I’m curious how worried I should be ? I’ve never had an STD and was recently tested in December 17 and everything was negative.

I honestly think you should not be worried. I cannot say this experience is risk free but I can tell you that only giving oral sex to someone with HSV 2 is very low ris - the virus does not like the oral area and the kind of contact that you had with her is likely not adequate to transmit virus. I would say that if you do anything about this, you should just observe for any sores around the mouth. Have you ever had a cold sore in your lifetime? If you got HSV 2 orally, it would look just like that.
