[Question #3352] Sti Risk

What is the risk of an sti from having the tip of my penis licked very briefly from the tip of a tongue? It was only once or twice but very quick. There was never any penetration of any kind, it was manual stimulation plus the tongue lick. This happened from a male so i am very worried about an sti.... especially syphillis. Im at day 6 with no discharge or burning although my anxiety has me second guessing. I plan on being tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia tomorrow but worry about the more serious. Should ngu be included? Any help would be great!! Safe to resume sex with my regular partner?

Welcome to our forum. I will be glad to comment. I think you are worrying far more than you need to. As I'm sure you already know, there is no risk whatsoever from receipt of manual simulation. What is less well known however is that when STIs are acquired from oral sex they are acquired either due to infections that are present at the back of the throat or on the lips. STIs (even Syphilis) are almost never transmitted from the tip of the tongue. While syphilis lesions have been described on the tongue, they are extraordinarily rare and are obvious when they are present.
There is no realistic risk for gonorrhea, chlamydia, or NGU for the activities you describe and no medical need for testing. If I were you I would not be worried at all about the activities you describe.
That your partner was another male in no way changes my assessment.
I hope these comments are helpful to you. Take care. EWH

That helps a lot. There might have been a slight touch of his lips but very light. His lips had lipstick so i saw no obvious sores.... im sure the response will be the same but im just worried . Very bad judgement. Would you still say no testing required if his lips touched my head very breifly?

You have correctly anticipated my response. That he was wearing lipstick does not change my opinion nor does the fact that his lips may have also briefly touched the tip of your penis. I see no reason for testing unless you were to develop a sore or a lesion at the tip of your penis within the next 21 to 30 days. EWH---

I have read an article on here from doctor hunter that stds such as syphilis need to be almost massaged in? As i stated my contact was very brief no more than a second or two with no mouth penetration..... i did not see any visible signs ..... would you say i should get a syphilis test?

No, I really see no need for syphilis testing. I really would not be concerned about this exposure in the least. EWH---
