[Question #3385] Just a thought

Dr.   I am accepting the fact that i am HIV negative.  For 1, it was insertive oral, and i had a 10 week and 2 day negative 4th gen test from Quest Diagnostics (i believe Abbott Architect).  My burning tongue sometimes and coating are still there.   What i would give to see my tongue before this incident.  It was maybe always like that.  Who knows.    But.

1.  Since my exposure was in North Africa (Morocco).  Should i be concerned about HIV 2?  My test was shy of 3 months, and with no antigen test done for HIV 2, should this be a concern?  I ask because everywhere i read online, its always 3 months or 12 weeks for conclusivness.  Some even say 6 months.

2.  Since i travel for work, about a month or 2 before my trip to Morocco and exposure last september, i had the yellow fever vaccination.  Has this been known to affect a test outcome?

Thanks Doctor

This is your 4th series of questions related to the exposure you had months ago and you appear to be perseverating and unable to move on.  The time has come for this to stop.  This will be your final set of questions. Our forum forum does not permit repeated anxiety driven questions by the same users. This will have to be your last one; future new questions on this topic will be deleted without reply and without refund of your posting fee. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers; because experience shows that continued answers tends to simply prolong such anxieties, when the real answer normally should be professional counseling; and because such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. I trust you will understand.

As for your new questions.  The internet is not your friend and will only fuel your anxieties and misperceptions.  Your 10 week results from Quest are conclusive for both HIV-1 and -2.  The internet continues to mislead people on this topic.  The yellow fever (and other vaccines) have no known impact on test results.  You need to believe your results.  EWH

Dr you are correct.  I have let my Anxiety run freely.  It takes a toll on the mental health.  Also becoming a new father has fueled my stress levels. I had already paid for another 4th gen test, just need to go in and do it.   It will be 6 months from time of exposure.   I am expecting a negative result (still nervous though)  At that time, i will be done with ALL this anxiety and move on.  Thank You for your patience with me.

10 panel test came back today.   Everything negative and most importantly the 4th gen came back negative.  Its been 6 months, im sure antibodies would be apparent by now,  and unless there is some strain of hiv in north africa unknown.  I am satisfied and hiv negative.  Thank You for your patience with me.  My anxiety WILL DROP and im sure the dry mouth/coated tongue will dissapear.  I have learned my lesson, and will never waste another 6 months of my life googling or making the same mistake.   Time to Live!

Thank You Doctors!!!

Thanks for your follow-up.  I hope that other clients will benefit from you willingness to share your results.  I do know that the prospect of HIV is frightening and am glad that you will now be able to move forward, now that you have had another negative HIV-1/2 test result.  This thread will be able to be closed.  Take care.  EWH
