[Question #3531] Can my daughter get infected!?

Dear doctors, I know from my previous question (Question #3514]) that I was not exposed to hiv. The problem is that I suffer from a severe OCD.  I am medicated to that and visiting a therapist. I was ok with the answer (#3514 ) , but something happened, I got a 4 years daughter and she likes to lick my face pretending she's a little puppie. So, let's suppose, hypothetically, that i am infected with hiv. My daughter tried to lick my face, i didn't let her do so, but her tongue still passed over my ear. What I am afraid is that maybe her tongue touched my hair, and under that part of my hair there was a dandruff wound that I was scratching like one hour before. The wound was not bleeding, but I got just terrified with the hypothesis of being infected.... And that she could be infected like this. Please, dear doctors, give me some advice. I am getting crazy with this thoughts. Thank you so much.

In fact, I guess her tongue didn't touch the dandruff wound.... But I just can think about the worst case scenario...

I forgot to tell, she's pretty healthy and doesn't have any disease or gum in mouth. Thanks again!

HIV is never, ever transmitted from parents to their children in the home, and there would be no risk to your daughter even if you had HIV. And as we discussed in your previous thread, there is no chance you caught HIV.

You know this is an OCD problem. I'm not going to explain any more about HIV. No matter what I say, your mential health disorder will find "yes but", "what if", or "could I be the exception" quesitons. The answer to all those also is no. Accordingly, my only advice is that you seek treatment (or continue in treatment) for your OCD.

I hope these brief comments are helpful. Best wishes to you.

Thanks again doctor, and sorry to bother you, but the fear of infecting my daughter, even though knowing that I am not in risk is something terrific. Supposing the worst case scenario (not real, I know), so my daughter is not at danger for have licking my hair, and maybe the dandruff wound. Even supposing that could be dried blood at this wound. I am sorry to hear bother.... But this feeling is literally killing me

I'm sorry, but this is not a psychological support site and this forum cannot help you more than we have alread. I suggest you carefully re-read the replies above and in your previous thread.

Please note the forum does not permit repeated questions on the same topic or exposure. This will have to be your last one; future new questions from you about the haircutting events HIV risk, and HIV transmission in the household will not be answered and the posting fee will not be refunded. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers; because experience shows that continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties; and because such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. Thank you for your understanding.
