[Question #3567] Cold Sores - Vaginal Contact

1) My partner and I both have a history of oral cold sores going back 20+ years. Neither of us have ever been tested for herpes but since we have cold sores, is it assured we both have HSV-1?
2) We are typically very good about not engaging in any oral contact if either of us has a cold sore. Recently we engaged in oral sex and I found out very soon afterwards that I had a new cold sore. My partner took a quick shower after I notified her - about 45 minutes after sex. Is it possible she will now contract genital HSV-1? Would the shower help at all? Is she protected since she has had cold sores herself and assumingly has HSV-1 already?

It is highly unlikely that once you have HSV 1 in one location on your body that you would contract it in a new location on your body. I think you are good to go!
