[Question #3722] question on Genital HSV 1

i'll keep this as short as i can...i have had penis skin issues since 1999...i have never ever had pain, itching..nothing...just skin abnormalities..no blisters, sores...just discoloartion, dryness, cracked skin...have had 2 penile biopsies and both showed nothing...from 1999 to 2002, my issues were nonstop...from 2002-2009 they were a few times a year...and didnt last a long time...in 2009 i  developed a skin condition just underneath the head of the penis that didnt heal...it lasted 6 weeks before i had it biopsied and it showed no viral activity...but starting early 2010, after the biopsy, my penis was a disaster...constant issues with dryness, cracking, red skin....i dont think i had a month off of having a healthy looking penis.. in December 2010 i went for a herpesselect IGG test and was negative for HSV 2, positive for HSV1...i have never had a cold sore that i remember in my life...starting in 2012 i began applying vasoline daily to my penis and it seemed to help..i had minimal issues...but beginning in 2015 it all started up again...redness, cracks and most weirdly, i had my skin near the tip turn shiny, than red and it lasted 2.5 months and in all honesty, left a scar that is still visible...since than its been just a reoccuring theme of constant issues...beginning this January, i had two little abrasions that didnt heal for 3 weeks...than my entire penis turned red....i've sent pictures to online dermatologists who have all said something different....its psoriasis, its fungal, its dermatitis, its lichen planus...no consistency in any answers....my final straw was starting this april 10, i developed a pink rash that looked very dry and had little dry dark marks...that healed in 10 days, and than a streak developed that looked redish, almost purple...after that healed i developed a red/pink rash that had those tiny dry skin marks in the rash...than the base of my penis began to peal, and after a shower it was a pink, raw color after all the dry skin was was

Sorry hit my limit.. just wondering if all of this could possibly be due to genital hsv 1? Have you ever seen a scenario with gen hsv 1 that acted like this? No typical lesions, constant reoccurrences , getting worse nearly 20 years later? I’m a healthy 40 year old married man with 2 great kids.. this is more a psychological issue than anything.. however my intimacy with wife is non existent cause of this condition and is starting to effect me badly

Oh, this sounds absolutely nothing at all like HSV 1 - not the symptoms, not the duration, nothing.
Have you tried treatments for psoriasis or those other conditions?
And why are you no longer having sex with your wife - is this painful?

Hi Terry, thank you for response..no it’s not painful but whatever is occurring seems to heat up after sex/hand stimulation. I can’t rule out that I have genital hsv 1 simply due to I have genital symptoms and never had cold sore. But I’ve scoured the internet and read probably everything you and Doc HHH and Hook have ever written and never heard of gen HSV 1 behaving quite like what’s happening with me.. few ?s
1-what’s worst gen HSV 1 you’ve ever seen?
2-what’s most atypical herpes outbreak you e ever treated?
3-have you ever seen gen HSV1 get worse over years?
4-you mentioned psoriasis. I have had 2 penile biopsies and neither tested positive for psoriasis.. can I rule that out?
5-can genital herpes cause or lead to other skin conditions on penis?
6-can genital herpes be a cause of flaking, dry skin?
7-I have never had any pain from these issues..no itching..no tingling..have you heard of outbreaks of Gen HSV that cause no symptoms besides appearance?

Thank you for all your help
