[Question #3766] HSV1 transmission risk during oral sex

Hello, I am a healthy male with asymptomatic HSV-1, confirmed positive from two separate igG blood tests recently.  I would like to know, what are the odds of transmission to my HSV-1 negative female partner when I perform oral sex on her?

If you have never had a cold sore or a genital lesion that is swab test positive for HSV 1, then you cannot know if your infection is oral or genital.  Any lesion in either location should be swab tested.
If your infection is oral, we know that people with recurrent cold sores (not you I am assuming) shed virus on 25% of days measured.
The Igg test misses 30% of hSV 1 infections compared to western blot so if she tests negative, that may or may not be accurate.
