What is official e.g. expert's defenition of
Can a nationally released 'R' rated movie like a drama, comedy or romance movie with usually short amount of nudity and or depiction of sex in it be classified as sexually
oriented or explicit MATERIAL.?Also, do NC 17 movies belong there?
What if any difference of having such movies on digital discs?
and not simply on tv transmissions.

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services, and thanks for your apparent interest in sexual health.

Unfortunately, this topic is not within our expertise. This forum provides information on risks, transmission potential, clinical aspects (symptoms, diagnosis, treatment) of sexually transmitted infections. Although that often requires consideration of patients' and even entire communities' sexual behaviors, we are not experts in sexuality in general or how the public, government agencies, schools, films, literature, or educators deal with human sex. My general response (based on personal opinion, not professional expertise) is that there are no clear answers to these questions without much more detail about context. For example, what is considered sexualy explicit or oriented would be very different for, say, young children and sexually mature adults, and across various populations and cultures. You might explore the main website of this forum's sponsor, the American Sexual Health Association (www.ashasexualhealth.org) for general information, although probably not specific answers. Also perhaps google "human sexuality" or "sexual behvior" for other resources. Several academic centers do research in human sexuality and might offer useful information. Indiana University and University of Minnesota come to mind, but there are many more.

I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful, but hope you find these leads to be useful.
