Dr’s.
Thank you for reviewing my question

2 days ago in Southern California I visited a strip club.  While receiving a lap dance I sucked the woman’s nipples extensively.  No other sexual contact then that.  I remained fully clothed

Only nipple sucking

Can you please asses my std/ HIV risk from this encounter.

I do not know if she was lactating, it was dark and I had been drinking

On other forums years back you state NO RISK - still true, any HIV cases from nipple sucking with milk/ fluid?

My wife is pregnant and I’m afraid I will hurt her and the baby

Thank you

Welcome to the Forum.  As it happens, I was on line when your question arrived so you are receiving a response much more rapidly than is usual.

As you know, we have received similar questions in the past.  The good news is that, unlike some other areas in our field, the answer to this question has not changed.  HIV is uncommon in women in the U.S. including in California.  Even if the woman you interacted had HIV however, and even if she was lactating again, unlikely) this would be a no risk event.  No adult has ever gotten HIV in this way.  Ingestion of fluids containing HIV is not a risk factor for infection.  Please do not worry further about this event- it was no risk and there is no reason for concern or for testing.

I hope this answers is helpful. Take care. EWH

Dr Hook

Thank you for the prompt reply.  A bigger Thank you to you and your team for all the good you have done over the years

If this sounds anxiety driven I apologize

As far as stds from this event- also no risk
I’ve heard Syphilis is on the rise in Los Angeles county where this club was

Do you think I safe to resume unprotected sex with my wife

Thank you

You are correct, syphilis rates have risen a great deal in California including the LA area however nearly all of these infections are occurring among men with male sex parrtner, not in women.

I would not worry and see no reason related to this encounter which should keep you from having unprotected sex with your wife.  EWH

Thank you Dr
I understand this is my 3rd question

If you’re telling me I am safe- I trust you

Is there anything I should worry about  with my nipple sucking  encounter?

As you can imagine, I am petrified of infecting my wife and unborn child with anything

Thank you for your guidance

I understand that you are concerned and anxious.  Nonetheless, as I said earlier, "I would not worry and see no reason related to this encounter which should keep you from having unprotected sex with your wife."   I meant that. No concerns at all.

As per Forum guidelines, this thread will be closed.  Take care.  Please try to not worry.  EWH
