[Question #3860] Painful Urination- Herpes?

I just had unprotected sex with a new partner about 2 weeks ago. About 3 days ago I started having a burning feeling while urinating, specifically at the end of the stream. My urethra at penis tip also burns for a while after urinating. I went to urgent care, and they gave me a urine test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, UTI and any other bacterial infections, and the test came back negative. I have no sores or bumps of any kind, and no swollen lymph nodes or any other symptoms as far as I can tell, just the pain at the end of stream in my urethra when urinating, and the pain after. Is this a possible herpes infection/Outbreak? and if so how do I get tested for it with no sores to swab, and too recent of an exposure for a blood test? The girl I slept with also said she has never had any herpes symptoms, I know that dosent account for much, because so many people are asymptomatic or have such mild symptoms that they dont even realize they have it. I just want to know if painful urination on its own is generally a symptom of herpes when not paired with sores, and if so if there is any way to get tested immediately with no sores or legions to swab. Thanks

There is no way to get tested sooner unless or until you have a lesion to swab. If you did get new herpes at this encounter, I would expect that symptoms would have shown up sooner than what you describe. Also, there are newly identified STI's that you likely were not tested for like mycoplasma. This could be the source of your concerns but I doubt that this represents new herpes infection. Could you ask the partner to get tested, you paying for it?

Thank you for your response. I did ask her, but she is terrified of getting blood drawn. I may push the issue. So it is common to have just urethritis with no other symptoms? I just have the painful urination, burning in urethra after urination, and the one i forgot to mention which is the urge to urinate more often than usual with very little coming out. I should also mention that this was not a single encounter, I had sex with her on a tuesday (first time), and also the friday saturday and sunday of that weekend, and I started experiencing the symptoms on monday or tuesday about a week after the last time. I also received oral sex from her a few times between the last time we had vaginal sex and when the symptoms started occurring. Went to urgent care and got the urine screen on wednesday. She went to the gyno also bc she was having irregular period and some pain, and got diagnosed with a bacterial infection, but also got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea, both which came back negative. If its not herpes I dont know what it could be, besides the mycoplasma you suggested. The timing is just very suspect for it to be anything not sexually related, though i realize it may be the case. I have never experienced this before. It is not a severe unbearable pain, but it does hurt pretty bad end of stream and is just annoying after that. Im also not sure if im feeling a slight burning in my buttocks/thighs, or if i am just manifesting symptoms out of fear.

Never mind... just passed a kidney stone for the first time ever that just happened to have coincidental timing as a new sex partner. Im only 32 and didnt even consider a kidney stone as a possible cause of the urethritis. Quite relived physically and emotionally right now.
