Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.

You needn't worry at all. This was an entirely safe sexual exposure. In heterosexual couples, HIV is sexually transmitted ONLY by penile penetration into the vagina, rectum or (very rarely) mouth. And 1-2 seconds of penetration definitely is not enough.

Therefore, you did not need HIV testing was needed after this event. But in any case, the results you had are 100% reliable. The Determine test picks up 100% of new HV infections by 6 weeks (and almost all of them by 4 weeks). You don't need any further testing at 8 weeks and certainly not at 3 months. Testing at 3 months after exposure is old news going back to earlier HIV tests no longer in use. With all current blood tests, including Determine, 6 weeks is always long enough.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear. Best wishes and stay safe!

hello doctor yesterday I had my 8 week Alere Determine hiv test the appointment was already said before coming here so I just went ahead and do it and it was negative  I just have  question for educational purposes if there was vaginal discharge while doing what I described in my first question would my risk increase I am having Muscles, and Joints pains  in my leg and arm when I walk so since my test is negative at 8 weeks should I stop worrying and move on with my life

I know you said I did not need testing but the appointment was already said sometimes I get a little bit paranoid and stressed over Little Things  so that's my reason for going ahead with the 8 week Alere Determine hiv test not because I don't believe you thank you for your help and keep doing what you doing

Sorry for the atypical delay in responding to your follow-up question yesterday.

I still feel you did not need testing. However, your negative HIV test is 100% reliable. It proves that HIV is not the cause of your symptoms. And no other STD causes muscle aching or joint pains. These are not due to any infection from the sexual event described above.

Thank you for the kind words!

I had a series of STDs test a week ago and they were all negative can this be Balanitis

No STD is a likely cause. If you are uncircumcised, maybe mild balanitis. If circumcised, it sounds like normal variation in penile skin appearance. If you remain uncertain about it, show it to your doctor. Stop testing for further STDs.

That concludes the two follow-up questions and replies included in each thread and so ends this discussion. Do your best to stop worrying about this completely risk free sexual event!
