hello,
I recently sat on a toliet seat that had what appeared to be dried blood on it actually on the back rim. Is it possible to get hiv from dried blood if it where to get in to your anus even it was siting for hours or minutes?

Welcome back, but sorry to see you found it necessary, especially for an event that everybody knows is risk free. In answer to your second question, no:  nobody ever caught HIV from exposure to the virus in the environment, in a public toilet or anywhere else. No risk and no worry, regardless of how long the exposure was. You might look back at one of your earlier threads, where I discussed the difference between theoretical events that seem to make biological sense and the evidence that such events rarely if ever have actually led to HIV infection.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks , can you shed a bit of information on how long the virus is active in dry blood or is it killed by air instantly outside the body ?

This really isn't known. It is generally believed that the virus is dead once blood or other infected secretions have dried. But air exposure is no instantaneous. But really this is the wrong question. If no transmission has ever occurred, who cares how long the virus survives? This is the reason the answer isn't really known: there is little incentive for such research.---

Thanks for your help so I would assume there would be no need to get tested based on this
