[Question #4079] Lap Dances and fingering risks

Good Morning Doctors

Here is my scenario - went to a massage parlor who gave me lap dances for around 15 minutes - had my underwear on - but she rubbed her vagina against my underwear hard and also touched my inner thighs (not covered by underwear). my Underwear was on at all time she was naked. I did not have sex with her. she then proceeded to take my finger and stick it in her mouth. I had then masturbated by myself using that same hand she had put in her mouth. She did not touch my penis.

Concern i have

a) What STD am i at risk for?  I am reading a lot about Syphilis and being direct skin to skin.  With the lap dance My Concerns are around her vagina touching my inner thighs outside the underwear - can i get std through direct contact
b) Should i get tested for such an exposure?
c) With regards to my finger in her mouth then my using those same fingers to touch my penis - can you please tell me what realistic chance of STD Exposure that is? I have no cuts on my fingers although i don't think that matters for a few STD transmissions.

should i be worried ? I had taken a blood test 7 days after my exposure but it was for a physical that was pre-booked some time back - would that show anything?

Thank you all for replying.

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment and, hopefully, to provide reassurance which will let you move on without further concern.  Before I address your specific questions, a few generalizations.  Most persons, even most commercial sex workers/exotic dancers do not have HIV.  Second, HIV is very difficult to transmit.  Even with penetrative genital-genital sex, the risk for infection is less than one infection for every 1000-2000 acts of unprotected intercourse with an infected person.  Transmission risk depends on the sort of exposure which is involved and there are many erotic exposures which do not put participants at ANY risk for HIV or other STIs.  Mutual masturbation is one such no risk exposure, and there is no risk for infection even when persons have direct, non-penetrative contact and even when participants get each others' genital secretions on one another.  With regard to your specific questions:

a) What STD am i at risk for?  I am reading a lot about Syphilis and being direct skin to skin.  With the lap dance My Concerns are around her vagina touching my inner thighs outside the underwear - can i get std through direct contact
Infections like herpes and syphilis can be passed through direct contact, typically when lesions are present.  Even with direct exposure to lesions there is little risk for infection.

b) Should i get tested for such an exposure?
I see no need for testing.  This was a virtually no risk event.  If you acquired syphilis you would develop a sore, on average, at 3 weeks (21 days) after the contact.  for HSV the period to lesion development is less- 10-12 days.  No lesion development, no need for testing. No scientific need for testing for other STIS.

c) With regards to my finger in her mouth then my using those same fingers to touch my penis - can you please tell me what realistic chance of STD Exposure that is? I have no cuts on my fingers although i don't think that matters for a few STD transmissions,

Zero risk.  The organisms that cause STIs, including HIV are not effectively transmitted by contaminating a person's finger and then touching another person with that same finger.  No infections are descried as occurring this way.

I hope these comments are helpful.  Please don't worry.  This was a no risk event.  EWH

Thank you for this doctor!

One last question

I noticed on my lower lip a small bump - very tiny not noticeable. If this was a syphilis sore - would it be noticeable. this is not like the images i have seen online But again i am not sure. it does not itch - and i did not notice it until last night.

Is it possible to get oral Syphilis sores through my exposure? I did not kiss her anywhere aside from her neck.

The blood tests i had done 7 days after my exposure would that show if i had caught syphilis?
Do you know approx how long if a blood test is positive how long the labs/clinics take to inform you? Sorry this may not be known to you however i was curious.

Thank you for your prompt response and this would be my final post,

Have a great day

your exposure is not consistent with the possibility of getting a syphilis sore on your lip.  further, a syphilis sore would be far bigger than what you describe.  i suspect you are merely examining yourself far more closely than is normal for you and noticing things that may have been there before but went unnoticed.

A 7 day blood test however is too early to provide any definitive information about syphilis.  Typically 4-6 weeks after exposure should pass before a blood test for syphilis is a reliable indicator of whether or not you were infected.  EWH
