[Question #41] Worried over herpes

Hi,
About 6 days ago I gave brief cunnilingus and received brief oral. I've been checking myself every day for lesions and blisters, none so far. I did notice today however a small white spot on the side of my tongue. I'm very worried it could be herpes. I had a sore throat but it went away after a couple of days. The exposure was with a woman that I've known for a while and says she is std free. I'm I just over looking it and stressing?
What are my chances of getting herpes?

We generally prefer not to look at pictures on the website, but since you posted it I would say that doesn't really look much like herpes and usually herpes would not present there. Did you ask this person if she ever specifically had a herpes antibody test? I think the chances of you acquiring oral herpes from giving oral sex is low but not zero. Was there only oral sex? No intercourse?

No intercourse. She said she is free of stds. The oral was brief too. In could not have been for more than 15 seconds. Not sure if that makes a difference. Just stressing out.

It would be really unusual to acquire herpes in a 15 second encounter, frankly.
There is no standard test for herpes in an STD screen. So some will include herpes testing and others will not.
But I think your risk is really low.
Have you ever had a herpes antibody tet to know if you were infected before this?

Yes I've been tested and negative for hsv 1 & 2. Just stressing out a lot.

I understand that you are anxious but I think your risk is incredibly low. However, IF you are going to have symptoms with a first infection with herpes, it would most likely happen within 2-10 days. So if you do not develop any symptoms within 10 days, that's another very good sign, right?

Well today is day 8 and the only symptom has been the bump on my tongue.

Hi the bump on my tongue is gone. It's been now 10 days however, after eating yesterday, I noticed a small red spot on the roof of my mouth. Doesn't hurt, and I notice it when I touch it with my tongue. What do you think that is? I read that sometimes that happens when eating chips or pretzels, which I did yesterday. Just nervous and over analyzing everything.

Chris you have used up your three posts on this site. I seriously doubt that the red spot on the top of your mouth is herpes.
