[Question #4241] Can I get a STD from a lap dance?

I received a lap dance roughly 6 weeks ago where a stripper unzipped my pants exposing my penis.  The dancer had on a g-string and there was no penetration what so ever however, my penis did come in contact with her g-string and butt cheeks. This lasted for a few minutes as she was grinding her g'string on my penis and I became uncomfortable and asked her to stop. I have no signs or symptoms of anything but I am concerned. Am I at risk of getting herpes or any other STD?

I think getting any STD in this situation is very very unlikely.    If you were going to contract herpes and have symptoms, that would have happened weeks ago.  It sounds like there was some barrier between you and her with the g-sting and no penetration, which is good.  Again, if you had contracted something 6 weeks ago, I believe you would be symptomatic by now, since you are observing carefully

Thank you Terri. This is somewhat reassuring and I do believe I learned a valuable lesson.  I do have a significant other and we have had unprotected sex since then so I am assuming if I had contracted something from that night at the strip club then I would have likely passed it to my significant other and she would also have shown symptoms by now.  I have been examining myself almost every day since that incident 6 plus weeks ago and I have not had any blisters, ulcers, rashes or any abnormalities show up nor has my significant other. I have heard of people being asymptomatic and not show any signs what so ever, is this a concern?  We have both been tested within the last 12 months and neither of us have/has any std's nor HSV1. Thoughts?

People can acquire herpes without symptoms but in your case, the activity was very low risk AND you have no symptoms - a great combination in your favor.
So many factors speak against you being infected here.
