Dear Doctor,

Sorry to bother again. As you can read from my previous thread, I have two encounters considered No Risk. However I took PEP for 28 days. After PEP, my physician who prescribed PEP advised me to take another testing for reassurance. So I took a 4th Gen DUO testing 5.5 weeks after the completion of PEP, NEGATIVE. It is 9.5 weeks after my receipt of oral sex encounter and 6 weeks after my receipt of handjob encounter.

My questions:

1. On account of two encounters and PEP, is the negative result conclusive?

2. What is the usual conclusive window period when PEP is introduced? 6 weeks? 3 month? Or 6 month?

3. I catch a cold these days and got too concerned about changes on my body. Is there anything to worry about?

Regards.

Welcome  back to the Forum.  I hope I can help although I must say that I think your questions are more a reflection of your OCD than any real risk for HIV.  Directly to your questions:

1. On account of two encounters and PEP, is the negative result conclusive?

YES!

2. What is the usual conclusive window period when PEP is introduced? 6 weeks? 3 month? Or 6 month?

Most experts would suggest that a 6 week result is conclusive.  Unfortunately for those who are in your situation, in order to not be incorrect, some authorities tend to be over cautious and suggest longer periods for testing.

3. I catch a cold these days and got too concerned about changes on my body. Is there anything to worry about?

No.

I hope my comments are helpful.  EWH

Doctor, I wanna ask that three days before my 5.5 week testing there were a canker sore in my lower lip. Is this symptom resulting from immune deficiency that has anything to do with any STI? Or make the close-to-6week not conclusive?

Canker sores are not a sign of recently acquired HIV.  That you had a canker sore three days before your recent HIV test is NOT related to any STI, does NOT suggest HIV, and in no way makes your 5.5 week test any less conclusive.  It is time for you to be entirely confident that you did not acquire HIV from the encounters you described and to move forward with confidence that you did not get HIV from them.

I hope this final confident is helpful.  It is now time to close this thread which will occur in a few hours. When it does, I trust that you will move forward and not need to return to our site or have continuing concerns about your no risk exposures.  EWH
