[Question #4400] Colchicine and the Immune System

Dr. Hook,

Just one last purely science based question.

I have Gout and have been taking colchicine daily for the past year to deal with it.

Colchicine basically supresses the way the immune system deals with pain and inflammation.

To the best of your knowledge would this drug in any way effect how quickly HPV Warts would appear and would this drug in any way effect test results for HSV2?

I'm sorry, but this is excessive. You cannot go through life attributing every new itch, ache, or twinge to STDs, especially given the low risk of your supposed exposures. Taking colchicine is not known to have any effect on risk of catching any STD, frequency of symptoms, or how quickly symptoms (of HPV or anything else) might appear, or on HSV2 test results.
