Hello Doc,

Let me start by thanking you for answering my question and this great service you provide us with..

I am 43 year old male married with 2 girls 5 months ago I started to chats with a Woman age 38 which is friend of a friend of mine form high school years.  She is divorced for 2 years and change with 2 daughter age 13 and 9. She happens to have a boyfriend dating for a Year now age 50 also divorced for 4 years with 2 kids grow up. In the 5 months we happen to get attracted to each other one thing lead another and we have  2 times unprotected intercourse and and a couple of unprotected oral sex in between on each other. We ended things cause we realize its was not right. I asked her again about her status. Which that did not go well as she said she felt i thought of her like going around she reply with i am clean. She even said she never felt

So low in her life cause i asked again. I Did not ask if she was ever tested though. Doctor what are my chance of me contracting HIV or any other std from this encounter.

She is a while kept lady and a good mother to her daughter.  Caring and working lady.

This lead to this cause I had my share of issue which this was totally the wrong way to approach it . She had her part with him having testosterone issue if you know what I mean also wrong way to approach it. Location Miami, FL

Looking forward hearing from u guys

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  My message to you is that your risk for having acquired any STI, including HIV, is tiny and not a concern.

To expand on this, focusing on HIV, let me point out that far less and 0.1% of women of the age you describe have HIV and the risk for acquiring HIV form any act of unprotected intercourse is less than 1in 2500.  The risk from oral sex is much, much lower.  Thus the odds of infection from the exposures you describe are tiny.

If you wish to prove that you were not infected, an HIV blood test taken any time more than 6 weeks will be conclusive.  Similarly, a blood test for Syphilis and urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia will similarly prove that those infections are not present.  In my own opinion, there really is little need for testing but if you are anxious, confidential testing is widely available and affordable.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH

Correct.  The sort of brief symptoms you describe are not suggestive of any STI.  Similarly, canker sores are not due to any STI, nor are they more likely to occur with a concomitant STI.

Nothing you have described suggests any reason to not have unprotected sex with your wife.  EWH

The term "baseline" test typically means that a test is taken with the expectation that it will be repeated in the future.  For instance, a "baseline" HIV test would be taken soon after a worrisome exposure, then repeated in the future to see if it changed.

Again, in your case I really would not worry.

This is my 3 Rd response to your questions.  Thus, as per forum guidelines, this thread will be closed shortly without further replies.  Please don't worry.  EWH
