[Question #4417] STD via hands

Hi.
Thanks for your help with my previous question.  This new question is also about something that happened a years ago that I am now anxious about.
I was wondering if masturbating my penis and then fingering a girl could cause an STD like chlamydia, syphilis or gonorrhoea or HEP B to be transferred.  I also was wondering if these STD could be transferred from fingering the girl and then masturbating afterwards.
Thank you

Welcome to our forum and thanks for your question.  Your question is a familiar one.  After reading my response I suggest you look at some of the other questions present on the forum addressing this topic. Dr. Handsfield and I have each responded to similar questions in the past.

Masturbation is safe sex. The micro organisms which cause STIs are very fragile and lose their infectivity almost immediately upon exposure to room temperature and the air. In addition, the mechanical process of transferring micro organisms from one surface (such as one person's  genital tract and to their hands and then on to another persons genital tract)  reduces the concentration of micro organisms present, if any, by well over 100 fold. For these reasons, STIs  are virtually never transmitted through genital secretions transferred on one person's hands to another person's genital tract.  The CDC and other Expert sources all agree that STIs, including HIV are not transmitted meaningfully through transfer of genital secretions from person to person during mutual masturbation.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  You have nothing to worry about in either of the scenarios you described above.  EWH

Thank you for making this so clear.
I read a lot of the other articles and can relax about the spread of sexual fluids.
One small thing I couldn’t fully understand however was; you said before in other answers that even if there was a cut on the person’s finger they could not (or were extremely unlikely to) get an STD but I’m wondering could it be possible to transmit some sort of STD/I if I had a cut on my finger that bled into the other persons vagina?

For you to transmit an STI to a female partner from a cut on your finger when masturbating her the STI would need to be in your blood.  Few STIs are in the blood (primarily HIV and hepatitis).  Even the, the cut would need to be actively bleeding and doing so enough to deliver large amounts of infectious material.  The fact is, based on numerous studies involving tens of thousands of persons, is that this does not occur.  While I suppose such transmission is theoretically possible, the possibility is of the same magnitude of your being struck by lightening while reading this reply.  It is just not something to worry about.

Conversely, not enough secretions would get into a cut to cause infections.
