[Question #4564] HIV Scare

Hello Dr.
Last week I went to a strip club, had a private dance. The girl there gave me a hand job and I put my finger in her vagina for like 5 minutes.
I have been worried about the possible risk encounter from then.
1). I had a small cut on my finger, is that considered a risk that I have my finger in her vagina.

Welcome back and thanks for your continued confidence in our services. However, this is almost the same question as you asked 2 ½ years ago (#644). The exposure is a new one, but almost exactly the same as last time. As we discussed then, this sort of exposure carries no risk at all for STD. Therefore, my replies are very brief. For more detail, please re-read your previous thread.
1) Hand-genital contact, including fingering, never transmits HIV, even with a cut on the finger.
2) If this is your only potential exposure, you do not need testing for HIV or anything else.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear, but only after reading the other thread, which explains why there is no significant risk.

Dr HHH, Thanks for the reply.
It is, but this time I was fingering.

Does your above response be valid even if the cut or open wound is very recent like 1 - 2 days before the incident?
2). Yes, this is my only exposure.
Thanks.

I knew you were fingering. Re-read my reply (1) above.
There has never once been a known case of HIV from fingering, and cuts and nicks of the fingers are extremely common. So if you think it through, you will realize there must have been millions and maybe billions of fingering events with HIV infected people in the presence of cuts of the fingers. And no known infections. Certainly there is no risk if the wound were not fresh (under a few minutes old) and bleeding at the time of exposure. And anyway, the chance any particular stripper has HIV is very low, probably under 1% and more likely under 1 chance in a thousand.
Don't over think it. You're not at risk. Do your best to accept my reassurance and move on with your life. If and when you someday start having intercourse with high risk partners, use condoms. Until then, you will not be at risk for sexual acquisition of HIV. Believe it and stop asking about other kinds of exposures!

Thanks again and sorry for one last question.
I am not sure if I understood this correctly.
"Certainly there is no risk if the wound were not fresh (under a few minutes old) and bleeding at the time of exposure."
In my case, it was a small cut like a day ago before the incident. I was not bleeding actively very much but my worry was the wound/cut was still open and not closed. So, what i am saying is it is still very recent like I could feel the pain on the area. When this comes in contact with Vagina , do I have anything to worry regarding HIV.
In other terms, if bleeding is there at the time of exposure am I at risk.

Nobody can say the risk is zero in the situation. But it is unlikely your partner and HIV. And even if she did, there must’ve been millions of exposures exactly like it over the 30 years of the world wide HIV/AIDS epidemic, and yet no known infections from such contact. Do you really think you might be the first?
You don’t need testing and you should continue your normal sexual relations with your regular partner. Don’t worry about it.
That completes the two follow ups included with each question, and so concludes this thread. Best wishes and stay safe.
