Hi Doctor,

Its been 7 days after the exposure and i still dont see any symptoms but i am so worried and feel like this is the end.

Its really painful on me and i am not able to concentrate on my routine activities and Work. I cant share this with my family and my wife. I just think i somehow acquire this then how will things be ? Ill be done and dusted. I am in anxiety and depression. This will end all my relationships and will make me isolated.

Please guide me and let me know if i can go for any test in a few days to come. I am sorry for troubling you guys again. I only have you guys to look upto.

Thanks and God Bless!

Welcome back to the Forum although it saddens me that you felt the need to return.  If you review our past exchange, I think you will find the answers to your questions.  The infections that you are at highest risk for are Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and you could go for those tests at this time.  At11-14 days you could have an HIV RNA test which would also be definitive at that time.  We do not recommend ever testing for herpes with a blood test.

Perhaps this will be helpful.  EWH

Hi Doctor,

Finally i got my HIV RNA and DUO Test results which was done after 14 days of possible exposure.

HIV RNA Says :

REFERENCE RANGE: NOT DETECTED
This test was performed using the APTIMA(R) HIV-RNA Qualitative Assay (Gen-Probe).

Can i be assured now or do i need further testing ? Please suggest.

Your tests are negative.  While it is too early for the "DUO" test to be definitive (that would take 6 weeks after exposure), the HIV RNA test is negative and should be considered definitive.  This is the test that is successfully used to keep the blood supply safe- believe your results.  No need for you to test further.  EWH---
