[Question #4613] Risk of Acquiring HSV2 From Kissing

Hello Doctors. I made a dumb mistake and kissed a girl drunk 2 days ago. We kissed 2 for like 4 seconds each time.18 hours later I had a cold sore. I thought maybe the girl I kissed gave me the cold sore.
Do I have to worry about HSV2 for kissing this girl (is this a real risk)or is it likely this is a normal HSV1 cold sore? Was I at any real risk of acquiring HSV2? I suffer from OCD and Anxiety so your response will be very helpful. I think it more guilt with kissing someone else that was not my current partner.
Please let me know if I need to worry about this event or move on . Thank you.

Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip before? If yes, then this was a likely a recurrence.
the risk of acquiring HSV 2 from kissing someone is incredibly incredibly small. HSV 2 does not like the oral area and when acquired there, which is uncommon, it very rarely recurs there and sheds very infrequently there.

I have never seen a case of HSV 2 transmitted via kissing, no. I think you are good to go!
