[Question #4615] From lingerie/swimsuit

I feel like this is my anxiety but wanted to get a dr. Opinnon.
I recently tried on lingerie at a store and later thought, could you get something from a dressing room? I kept my underwear on, but did pull the pieces over my head so touched my body/hair, but not pubic hair from what i remember? After some scary googling it said its possible to get crabs or some other stds from trying on clothing. Is this true?
Would i likely get crabs? Even on my head/facial hair from this? Or from even being in a dressing room, could something have been on the floor that then infected my clothes when i put them back on?

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be glad to comment. there is no known risk for getting any traditional STI such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, etc. from trying on a piece of clothing that someone else may have worn before you did. I would not be concerned.
I suppose that if a person had tried on the undergarments on before you and had crabs there is a theoretical risk for infection but this risk is extraordinarily low- I have never seen or heard of a case acquired in this way and if there is meaningful risk I presume I would have heard about it. This is not something I would worry about.
I hope that this comment is helpful. EWH

Thank you!
If i wanted to get checked for lice by a dr, how soon would they be visible? That is if they’re even there of course.

Most people who find out that they have lice note them within a few days of exposure - certainly they would be noticeable within a week. Personally however, as I tried to indicate, this is not something that I would worry about although it is reasonable to keep a look out. EWH.---

Thank you i definitely will! I will not get tested unless i feel symptoms arise. But even if i did not feel symptoms, would the lice be visible say by this weekend? I know they may take a few days or so to experience symptoms, but would a doctor be able to identify them after a day or so?

I would still wait a few days until I asked a doctor to check, just in case there is something to be seen. EWH---
