[Question #4662] Follow up question # 4564

Hello Dr,

This is a follow up question for #4564. Sorry I understand you have answered my previous question but anxiety is getting the better of me.

I have had this incident 15 days ago, from a couple of days I am feeling feverish and the temperature is like 99.5 F and there is small rashes on my thighs. I am very worried if these are some symptoms of hiv  because of the incident I have mentioned previously. Extremely sorry if I am being annoying but as said earlier i having very tough time with anxiety.

Thanks

Re-read my previous reply. Having had a zero risk exposure in regard to HIV, there is no possibilty your symptoms are due to ARS. And these aren't typical symptoms anyway. Probably you have no fever anyway -- 98.6F is not the top normal temperature, but the average over the course of the day. Enitrely healthy people often reach 99.5; I'm pretty sure if you take your temperature several times, it will be lower most of the time and will average 98.6 or thereabouts. And the rash of ARS isn't like what you describe. If anything is wrong at all, other than anxiety, you may have a minor respiratory viral infection. Of course see a doctor if your symptoms continue or you otherwise remain concerned. But there's nothing more thiis forum can offer you.

It isn't an issue of annoying the moderators, but we discourage questions like this because anxieties like yours usually are impervious to rational, science based advice, so our replies rarely are very helpful. I would encourage you to re-read your previous threads about how low your risk was for HIV and why. But that's all we can do.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Hello Dr, You have mentioned “If anything is wrong at all, other than anxiety, you may have a minor respiratory viral infection.” Are you saying respiratory viral infection is any symptom of hiv

"does this mean I do not need to take any hiv tests". Yes.
No, you misuderstand. (Is there an understanding problem, maybe English isn't your primary language?) It means the opposite, that such symptoms are due to viruses other than HIV. Such viruses are never symptoms of HIV.---

It has become apparent that you are returning to the forum repeatedly using different email addresses and/or usernames, which is against forum rules; and repeatedly asking the same questions about nonexistant HIV risks associated with fingering, the possibility of massage personnel or strippers having cuts on their hands, etc -- which also is against the rules. You may not keep returning to the forum in this manner.

Future new questions about simlar exposures and your fears about HIV may receive no reply and the posting fee will not be refunded. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers. In addition, experience shows that continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties rather than reducing them. Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes.

Good bye.
