[Question #4695] HIV Concern

I apologize if my concerns seem repetitive but I have never experienced all of these weird symptoms like this before. I understand that all of this could be  coincidence but on the off chance it’s not I like to ensure that I am not dealing with having HIV from my encounter. I tested using HIV 4th Gen combo test at 34days and 46days both were negative. The encounter was unprotected vaginal and the individual did ejaculate inside.Since then I have debated on testing again for fear of a new result. I understand that 46days should be conclusive but my symptoms are causing me doubts.I had weird neck pain which could have been caused by not sleeping right I get but recently I had some additional weird things happen.I recently decide to attempt to have normal intamacy with my regular partner as suggested before on previous questions but it was protected sex and only unprotected oral. I still have fear that I could have something and I do not want to give him anything. He thinks I am over reacting. By the way he is confirmed to be 100% clean only have had HVS1 that I gave him over 10yrs ago. All of this is confirmed with testing. I am just worried about me giving him something.

I also tested for gonorrhea & chylamedia at 21 weeks from the encounter -results negative.I insisted with my doctor to test me, he was pretty upset claims I don’t have anything to worry about. I had him give me papers to test again for HIV but I have not gone to the lab yet for fear that my results might change.

Last week Wednesday my niece was sick throwing up and it appears she gave me her virus and everyone in my house including my partner and my brother. I got sick on Friday and throw up a few times (6) to be exact. Also had a mile fever, I do not know what degree.I took that evening one vitamin C and two &Tyndol flu meds and went to sleep, the next Morning was better only had a case of mile diarrhea which went away in 24hrs.But what is causing me fear is that I woke up with  swollen neck, I believe I have a swollen lymph node in the back of my neck, along with a headache only on the side the lymph node is located. Could this be a delay symptom of HIV ?? These symptoms are only appearing weeks after I had my last test at 46days. My partner claims that is I really had HIV I couldn’t have recovered from whatever my niece gave me so quickly but I have doubts and I feel as if I am losing my mind. I apologize and I hope you can help me.

From my previous reply 3 weeks ago:  "As [Dr. Hook] told you, the HIV AgAb ('4th generation') HIV tests always are conclusive by 6 weeks. There are no reports of false negative results after that period of time, i.e no 'rare cases that [first] test positive beyond 46 days'. To put it another way -- if somewhat bluntly -- the AgAb tests are far, far more reliable than symptoms. The symptoms of HIV are 'nonspecific'. That's the medical term for symptoms that do not point to any particular condition. Every symptom you have is caused much more frequently by things other than HIV."

So this is the third time you have been given the same reply. It does not matter what symptoms you have now or might develop in the future. Your symptoms are not typical for HIV, but even if they were, your test results prove something else is the cause. If your symptoms continue or you remain concerned about them see a doctor for evaluation and possibly treatment.

The forum does not permit repeated anxiety driven questions. This will have to be your last one about the exposure, symptoms, and HIV test results you have described. Future new questions along these lines are at risk of being deleted without even the kind of reply I've given this time; and without refund of the posting fee. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is designed to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers. In addition, experience shows that continued answers tends to simply prolong such anxieties, not resolve them (exactly reflected in your last three threads). Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. I trust you will understand.

Best wishes to you.
