[Question #4699] HSV Concern

Hello. This is a follow up to question 4660 and regarding HSV.
I know dr handsfield said it was a possibility for herpes to be contracted through this exposure although practically zero. That gave me a lot of relief. But the passed few days I had some burning on the skin in my groin. Today I went to a dermatologist and he said it was dermatitis (thankful once again). Then I got a single tingle in the back of my thigh and didnt think much of it until I looked into google and your site and now I'm back to square one being scared of herpes (because of the tingle and burning groin skin)
Should I be concerned about the tingle?
Wouldn't I see sores by now being 10 days post exposure?

I believe that we have already touched base about this question in another post, yes?  I don't know what looking at my work would suggest to you that this tingle is due to herpes.  Yes, people who HAVE herpes sometimes get what we call prodrome in the leg prior to having a recurrence.  But this does not mean that every tingle has to do with herpes!  Please don't go there.

Morning Terri,
It has been some time since i had an exposure, 5 weeks to be exact. I was wondering what your take on testing accuracy is for certain weeks. For instance, I am going for a blood test for HSV today (IGG going to request not to do the IGM), 5 weeks, what would be the accuracy of this test? I have seen some doctors call it conclusive and other say 12 weeks. I have seen other doctors say a 5 week test is about 60% accurate, now does that mean its a 60% chance of picking up the antibodies or 60% chance that it will stay negative or positive? Please don't close the thread as I will post my results when I get them on Monday. Thank you in advance and I really do appreciate all of your help and service.

we don't have accuracy at 5 weeks, but we do know that at 6 weeks, 70% of those infected with HSV 2 will be positive by IgG.
I will leave this thread open for test results.

Again this was taken at 5 weeks, what are the chances of it staying negative?

I think there is a very good chance of it staying negative!
